Fantasia Steams Ahead Following Worst Week Ever

Fantasia Barrino isn't going to let a suicide attempt and a much-ballyhooed adultery scandal stop her from moving forward with her music career. She will return to the spotlight on Aug. 24, when she performs on 'Good Morning America,' and then spend the next couple of weeks making other promotional stops for her new album, 'Back to Me.'

Barrino was hospitalized last week after taking too much medication following a tumultuous day of bad press related to her relationship with a married man named Antwaun Cook.

In a statement released Monday night, the 'American Idol' winner thanked fans for their "prayers and support during such a challenging time."

She continues: "It has given me the motivation to get back to work ... I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this album and I pray that everyone enjoys it as much as I do."

Barrino was admitted to Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, North Carolina, on Aug. 9 after overdosing on aspirin and a sleep aid following an "overwhelming" day, her manager said. The season three 'Idol' champ was swept up in scandal earlier in the day when a lawsuit from her boyfriend's estranged wife was released. In it, Paula Cook alleges the two "have at times recorded their illicit sexual activity."

Barrino's manager released a statement Monday afternoon, saying the singer is "not responsible for the deterioration of the Cook's marriage" and that she will "weather this storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout" her life.

Hours after that statement, Barrino was rushed to the hospital. She was treated and released two days later.

Did you read the entire story? Fantasia didn't do anything wrong. The story says "estranged" wife, meaning they were NOT together when the bo and Fantasia were seeing one another. He was "through, punked, over" his wife before she decided to use Fantasia as a battering ram.

Good...I'm glad he did, one of them had to do what was right.

Has HE stopped the affairs? Has HE apologized to his wife? Why is this piece of garbage off the hook? The wife should kick him to the curb & take him for everything he's got. Pure garbage.

She is not one fine lady-she cant read or write and she cant sing--she can yell and scream but cannot sing. And you shouldnt be telling someone they cant spell when you cant use the proper tense of a verb "sang" boy.

Tommy boy, you must be a hillbilly or sheltered white boy because the vernacular that we use is sang. When one can really sing. So before you call me a boy...boy, you might want to learn a little about our vernacular. If not, then keep your fuc... mouth shut.

Exactly! Fantasia has done an awesome job so far of raising her daughter. Not only that, but she is supporting the entire family; cut her some slack. I am sure that in that huge house the all live in, she and her bo don't do the nasty in front of her daughter. Has anyone seen the show and paid any attention to just how much she loves that child? That little girl is never left alone when Fantasia has to do a concert cercuit. By the same token, when she isn't with Fantasia, she is with loving family. That is what I have to say in my present defense of her. As far as the bo goes, none of us knows what the woman that he cheated on was like. Was she bi-polar and constantly refusing to stay on her meds? Did she have a problem with spending too much money? Was "she" a cheat in her past --or, none of the above? What I am trying to say is that their are two sides to every story and all that we know is that that itty-bitty bit that we are recieving from her. Think about it.
