Fantasia Steams Ahead Following Worst Week Ever

Fantasia Barrino isn't going to let a suicide attempt and a much-ballyhooed adultery scandal stop her from moving forward with her music career. She will return to the spotlight on Aug. 24, when she performs on 'Good Morning America,' and then spend the next couple of weeks making other promotional stops for her new album, 'Back to Me.'

Barrino was hospitalized last week after taking too much medication following a tumultuous day of bad press related to her relationship with a married man named Antwaun Cook.

In a statement released Monday night, the 'American Idol' winner thanked fans for their "prayers and support during such a challenging time."

She continues: "It has given me the motivation to get back to work ... I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this album and I pray that everyone enjoys it as much as I do."

Barrino was admitted to Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, North Carolina, on Aug. 9 after overdosing on aspirin and a sleep aid following an "overwhelming" day, her manager said. The season three 'Idol' champ was swept up in scandal earlier in the day when a lawsuit from her boyfriend's estranged wife was released. In it, Paula Cook alleges the two "have at times recorded their illicit sexual activity."

Barrino's manager released a statement Monday afternoon, saying the singer is "not responsible for the deterioration of the Cook's marriage" and that she will "weather this storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout" her life.

Hours after that statement, Barrino was rushed to the hospital. She was treated and released two days later.

Call me cynical but all this so smells of publicity stunt. The wife's charges, Fantasia's suicide attempt, the filming of her and the so called boyfriend by her reality show the next day. Now the promotion of her next CD. I would not be surprised to learn the Wife is on the reality show payroll.

Too bad for Fantasia that NC has a law which enables you to sue the man or woman who thought it would be a good idea to mess around with a married man! I hope Ms. Cook takes Fantasia and her cheating husband to the cleaners (not that Fantasia will pay since she would rather lose her home than pay the taxes that are due on it). What a good example she sets for her daughter, all that crying and moaning that it was the school systems fault that she got knocked up and dropped out, a lot of people are single parents and many do what they have to do for their kids before they take care of their own pleasures, too bad selfish Fantasia does not do the same.

Some of you on here make no sense lmao who cares she is just another woman looking for love. I bet 99% the man did his wife wrong, and Fantasia doesn't care because it's not her that it's being done too. The guy is not even all that hopefully she fund him money for his pimpled out face. Hopefully he doesn't do it to her. As far as her voice i like some of her songs; she is rising slowly and everything takes time.
