Neil Patrick Harris to Quit Showbiz? Plus, Who's the Daddy?

The announcement that Neil Patrick Harris and his partner, David Burtka, are expecting twins took everyone by surprise. However, sources tell me the 'How I Met Your Mother' star is thinking about dropping another bombshell -- to quit the business and become a stay-at-home dad!

"Neil has been working his butt off since he was a little kid," a friend of the actor tells me. "Everything was about his career until he met his soul-mate, David. Now, with twins due in October, Neil is thinking about taking a break. Moving from Hollywood to New York City to be a full-time daddy."

Clues about a dramatic life change surfaced a few months back when Neil was in New York looking at a luxury three-bedroom apartment. (One room for the dads and one for each kid!) I saw Neil leaving a building on 24th and 10th with his broker after looking at a $3.5 million apartment, with 3 bedrooms, a fireplace and views of the Hudson River.

According to my sources, the surrogate mother was impregnated in February, but who the biological father is remains a mystery.

"Only Neil and David know for sure whose sperm was used, but they are not telling anyone. For medical reasons they need to know who is the biological father of the babies, but as far as they are concerned, they are both the twins' daddies. Legal papers have been signed making this very clear."

A friend of the couple's flat-out believes Neil is the bio-father, telling me, "He is the driving force in the relationship and seems to make all the big decisions, however, it's impossible to really say."

Regardless of who is the daddy, if Neil does decide to take a much deserved break from Hollywood and move his new family east, don't expect him to have too much time on his hands. Sources tell me that in addition to looking after their two children, the couple will be planning a big gay wedding. I hope they get Liza to perform!

That would be a great loss for the entertainment business, to be honest. But NPH has three more years on his contract with CBS, so he cannot move or quit anytime soon…?

I think he's a great actor. Can I just remind people that this is none of our business?? There is a difference between a celebrity letting us know a baby is on the way and anyone thinking who the father is as being our business!! What a bunch of nutcases you all are, especially the writer of this acticle. I would never think of asking a co-worker these types of invasive questions even though she or he might have announced to the department he/she was expecting. Either wish them well or MYOFB.

He is such a great actor. Hate to see him go if he chooses. I wish them all the best.How he chooses to run his life is his business. We appreciate him for what he contributes to us each week on tv and thats alot of laughs and great acting.I don't judge--to each his own, so congrats.

Wow so much hate for guys just tryin to live their lives. They both seem like really nice people and if the hate filled posts Ive seen on here are the average parents of the world, then Im thinking these guys will make above average parents.
