'True Blood' Stars Bring Blood and Sex to Rolling Stone

'True Blood' serves up a lot of blood. And sex. And bloody sex. And if you happen to enjoy these things, it's likely you're tuning in to HBO's mega-hit Southern vampire saga every Sunday night for a fix. But this season -- the dirtiest yet! -- has us asking, has it gone too far?

In the same pushing-the-undead-envelope spirit, the stars of the show "grace" the cover of this month's Rolling Stone, and the bloody, flesh-baring image has everyone talking.

Rolling Stone interviewed show creator Alan Ball for cover story 'The Joy of Vampire Sex,' and he takes a few jabs at a certain popular rival vampire phenom, the 'Twilight' saga. "The idea of celibate vampires is ridiculous," Ball says. "To me, vampires are sex. I don't get a vampire story about abstinence. I'm 53. I don't care about high school students. I find them irritating and uninformed."

So what do the stars attribute 'True Blood's' success to? "If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn't one before. It's a de-virginization.. So that's pretty sexy. I think that makes vampires attractive," Stephen Moyer says, who plays vampire Bill Compton.

Have you ever met any teens? They are unbelievably narcissistic. I've been teaching teens for nearly 20 years, and the ego problems have grown worse and worse over the decades. They are irritating and ill-informed; so were we when we were teens. The difference is, back then, the world didn't revolve around us; we only thought it did. There were no Justin Biebers in my day. The point was to grow up, learn something, and enjoy being a grown up.

I'm just surprised they didn't do something more tasteful... I think they could have made the cover rock with an sexy old hollywood vampire+bloody scene. I think Anna looks great all glamed up! Kinda disappointed

Haven't seen the show but gotta love the artwork on the cover. Neither RS magazine or the tv show are targeting kids so no it hasn't gone too far. And the FCC make producers put ratings on shows so parents can not watch a show and have enough info to not let their kids watch it either. So let the adult shows with sex and violence continue

I am a American and I am not prude. But I would not let my child watch this show till she was older.....its not just the nudity....its the cussing and violence. Not right for a child to see.

Dleger, ya dummy. This is not about watching the show. Too boot it is on pay cable. Good for you, dont let your kids watch it. This is about the cover, which is beautiful and shows 3 people in the prime of their lives. Something that is good for anyone to see...

I agree that children are not and should not be watching the show but this on the cover of a magazine in the store's where all can see. I believe that is a bit much. I am not saying get rid of the photo but maybe it would be better to put it in the magazine instead of on the cover.

I do not care for the show itself because they make Sookie out to look like a dumb redneck idiot and that is not how she is portrayed in the books. I am a fan of Charlaine Harris and the Sookie Steackhouse Novels as well as some of her other work.
