No Joke: Snooki Officially Charged With Annoying People

'Jersey Shore' star Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi was charged Wednesday with annoying people on the beach, the Associated Press reports. The new charge stems from her late July arrest in New Jersey beach town, Seaside Heights. The reality star is also facing charges of disorderly conduct and creating a public nuisance.

Prosecutors added the third charge during a court hearing in Seaside Heights on Wednesday. Snooki's lawyer, Raymond Raya, entered a not guilty plea for all three charges. The star wasn't present at the hearing.

Snooki's trial is scheduled for September 8. And if convicted, she'll face up to $2,000 in fines. Polizzi's attorney, Raymond Raya, declined to comment on the charges.

The prosecutor, Kim Pascarella, told reporters: "I understand she's become a public celebrity, but in all honesty it's really not much of a charge."

Snooki was arrested on July 30 after other beachgoers complained to police that she was bothering them. After she was taken into custody, she was released on a summons.

The diminutive MTV star said her much-ballyhooed July 30 arrest for disorderly conduct was a wake-up call of sorts, especially after she realized how much she had embarrassed her proud family.

"My dad was very, very pissed," she told a gaggle of reporters in L.A. at an MTV press event on Friday. "He's like, 'I didn't raise you like this.' I just felt really bad, so I'm definitely going to stop drinking during the daytime. And now when I go out, I only have a couple drinks."

She told reporters that she'd been drinking tequila since noon that day and by the time of her arrest -- 3:30 -- she was thoroughly snockered. After that, the memories of the episode are hazy. "[I remember when] I woke up in the drunk tank, I was like, 'Alright, I must have drank way too many cocktails.'"

Jack, there are a whole bunch I can add with Snooki! The Kardashians, "Housewives of Whatever", etc., are not "stars".
I can not wait for the "Reality Show" phase of TV to be OVER. Never in my life have I seen such senseless garbage broadcast as meaningful entertainment. The networks and producers who think this type of trash is entertaining are largely responsible for the "dumbing down" of America. Meanwhile, they are laughing all the way to the bank as the poor slobs that actually watch this garbage, are wondering how to pay their bills!
