Steven Tyler Tells Friend He's an 'American Idol' Judge Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a friend of Steven Tyler told the Associated Press that the Aerosmith frontman is confirmed as a judge on the upcoming season of 'American Idol.'

"While an official announcement about Tyler has yet to come from FOX and the producers of the top-rated show, the source told The Associated Press on Wednesday, 'there is no reason to refute' Tyler's account," the AP writes.

FOX did not comment on the report. Stay tuned to PopEater for developments!

Ellen DeGeneres left 'Idol' after just one season, announcing her departure weeks ago. Shortly after the report, news arrived that Kara DioGuardi had been fired -- and that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler looked like the replacements. While J.Lo has since reportedly been nixed, Tyler is now all but confirmed.

Maybe a guest judge, doubtful he'll chase all over the country judging then work weeks in LA. Particularly when Aerosmith just announced a new tour.

Bret Michaels is great for A.I. Why are they choosing all these other people? Don't they want the show to succeed? I will not watch again this year if they don't change the judges to someone deserving and interesting.

American Idol will be canceled after 2011..the ratings are going to plummit with all these wanna be judge idiots..Simon was the most fun to watch,cause he was real with what he said and who he was..paula and randy Could never have held the show without Simon..It's doomed.........

I like Ellen, but NEVER got WHY she was a judge. Although I don't care for Steve Tyler's music (Everybody, don't be haters....I'm just seriously conservative! LOL) I think he is definitely MORE qualified than Ellen and will probably add a LOT to the show!!!!!

AI needs to CHOOSE VERY CAREFULLY, because I have been a loyal supporter of the show and really don't know if I'm going to watch. IF the judges are chosen well (i.e. qualified, knowledgeable people, who, actually, have EXPERIENCE) I will probably give it ONE MORE SHOT. I did NOT watch this past season after the first few episodes.

We'll see................

Kara was god awful as are all the judges other then the original 3. the show has run its course and its 2 years past needing to be pulled. I like Steve as a singer but would never want to see him as a judge.

Maybe with Steven Tyler as a judge we will get edgeier contestants instead of the same cookie cutter winners we have had over the last few years ho hum.
However the show is flawed because of the voting system, if they did one person one vote instead of letting the tweenys vote over and over the true talent would win, based on real talent Adam Lambert would have won season eight and Crystal Bowersox should have one this year. Chris Allen isnt out there tearing it up and neither will Lee Dewyze, A.I presented them with hollow victorys and they know it, how sad.
