Conan O'Brien Teams with Jack White for New Recording...About Frankenstein

With the 'Tonight Show' debacle now a distant memory and a new TBS late-night show on the horizon, Conan O'Brien seems to have embraced his wonderfully weirder-than-ever persona as a rockabilly raconteur. Along for the ride is Jack White, whose indie record label Third Man has announced the release of 'And They Call Me Mad?' -- Conan O'Brien's "recently recorded, spoken-word, improvised narrative about the story of Frankenstein."

Based on the short clip of 'And They Call Me Mad?' available now on Third Man's official site, O'Brien sounds like the farthest thing from a genial talk-show host as he pants and heaves his way ("I'm not mad! I'm a God!") through the age-old horror story.

The company says the world premiere of the entire recording will air Monday, Aug. 23 (12 p.m. ET) on Sirius XM's Raw Dog Comedy channel. The spoken-word performance officially goes on sale the following day, but is available for pre-order now.

For TV fans who followed the funnyman's fallout with NBC -- when his longtime network made the unprecedented move of re-installing Jay Leno as 'Tonight Show' host and showing O'Brien the door -- perhaps the most intriguing feature of 'And They Call Me Mad?' will be the bonus track: White interviewing O'Brien. Will they dig into the career shakeup that prompted O'Brien to hit the road all summer with his wacky live show? Or will they simply share banjo-tuning tips? The White Stripes frontman has already collaborated on the vinyl release 'Conan O'Brien Live at Third Man' (currently on sale). No word yet on whether White's been tapped to fill a Max Weinberg-like role for O'Brien's TBS debut on November 8.

About the warm welcome he's received from TBS, O'Brien has said, "They believe in me, I believe in them, and I cannot wait to get back to having fun on television again. That's all I want to do."

Conan needs then to sack up w/ his musical guests for his new show... WHY would he collaborate w/ a tool the likes of White !!?? White's music is the worst & i cant believe Conan would go down that road when there are 100 other more talented and established artists he could have gotten together with !

try listening to a live version of blue veins and then try to say he's not a musical genius. Jack is an incredible musician

OMG - He could play Frankenstein and they wouldn't even have put all that time and effort into putting makeup on him. I didn't think it was possible for him too get any uglier than when I last saw him. But he's now twice as ugly. He must be one reesty b*stard to have to follow in a restroom.
