Mariah Carey 'Superstitious' About Pregnancy

Mariah Carey's recent performance in Brazil reignited speculation that the singer is pregnant. The 'Obsessed' singer had noticeably exchanged her signature hip-hugging dresses for oversized clothing that hid her bodacious curves. Although her husband Nick Cannon is playing coy about her growing belly, the couple aren't exactly denying the pregnancy rumors.

Mariah's publicist, Cindi Berger, told PopEater's Naughty But Nice Rob Shuter that Carey has seen all the coverage about her rumored pregnancy and "appreciates everyone's well wishes."

"But she's superstitious," Berger continues, tellingly. "When the time is right for her to say something, I'm sure she will."

While the couple, who wed in 2008, has yet to confirm the news, sources close to the singer tell PopEater the 40-year-old diva is indeed pregnant.

In June, Carey abruptly dropped out of Tyler Perry's new film, setting off the first firestorm of speculation that the singer is expecting. Her rep quickly squashed the reports at the time.

Cannon has been the most vocal about the rumors, hinting that the couple's first child is on its way. "I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again -- when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her," Cannon said on his radio show Tuesday morning.

"There's a certain time limit that you're supposed to wait before you actually can officially say that you are. You've got to take all those things into factor and it gets really heightened when you're one of the most famous people in the world because you don't want to mislead anybody," the 29-year-old comedian added.

The pair have not been shy when it comes to talking about babies. According to PEOPLE, Canon has been vocal about wanting to start a family. "We're going to do it," he said in March 2009.

In the picture above (in the white T-shirt) she definitely looks pregnant. She supposedly went to the fertility clinic on May 9th, 2010 - so, since she is 40 yrs old, she is probably waiting until she is four months to announce it.

Therefore, I believe she will announce her pregnancy by September 9th, 2010.

We shall see and hear very soon! :) Congrats to Mariah & Nick!

I simply cannot imagine a woman Ms Cannon's age who has waited so long for a baby would risk losing it by touring and performing. Logically if you had her affluence and finally were fortunate enough to launch a pregnancy successfully you would be home taking it easy, feet up and sipping some organic vegetable juice while Nick rubs your feet. Love to her, hoping for whatever makes her happy! Go Mimi!

Actually, I don't think her singing appearances involve a lot of dancing. Besides, look at all the stuff Alicia Keys was doing in concert while VERY pregnant and she still seems to be ok.

There use to be a time that 38 was about the right time not to have any more children to ensure a healthy child but women these days are in such great shape. I hopw she has a happy and healthy baby, best wishes to them both.

Don't be shocked if she is having Twins at the age of 40 from IVF treatments like JLo and everyone else in Hollywood.. Twins is the norm now days.. IVF is the way when you want a baby.
And she could just be fat she gets fat easily.

just cause she's 40 doesn't mean she used IVF to conceive if she is infact pregnant nor that she's having twins. in Jlo's case twins run in her family so she was at a higher risk for them and having kids after age 35 is nothing new in hollywood. it's gone on since before IVF treatments were available Patricia Neal for instance had her two youngest children at 38 and 39 in May 1964 and August 1965 and the youngest one was even more of a miracle because she suffered a series of Strokes while pregnant and during the rehab from that attempted suicide because she was scared the baby would be deformed and she & her Husband beloved children's author Roald Dahl already had a child disabled from an accident and one who had died of childhood illness so seeing her attempt that again scared him. luckily their baby daughter Lucy was born perfectly healthy

of course it was different in those days stars especially ones as big and beloved as Ms Neal is got privacy when they were pregnant unlike now when Paparrazzi chase them even more because moments like pregnancy/wedding sell alot of magazines
