Exclusive: Michael Lohan Gives Lindsay a 'Lot of Credit' for Rehab Success

The first person Lindsay Lohan called upon her stealth release from rehab Tuesday night was reportedly her mother, Dina. It's safe to say the last person she'll touch base with now that she's a free woman is her estranged father, Michael. But the distance between the two hasn't cramped his concern for his famous daughter.

"God bless her. Lindsay has been through a lot and I give her a lot of credit," Michael tells PopEater's Naughty But Nice Rob Shuter in an exclusive statement.

With niceties about Lindsay out of the way, Lohan then echoed his previous statements about his ex-wife not doing enough to keep their daughter out of trouble.

"Hopefully, Dina will do the right thing and finally get on the same page as me, because if we were most of this wouldn't have happened in the first place."

Michael previously told PopEater that what Lindsay really needs -- in addition to rehab for her substance problems -- is family therapy with both her parents. Family therapy, according to Michael, has "been recommended by professionals for years, however, Dina just won't let it happen."

He contends that Dina has "failed miserably" with their daughter but that "we have both caused this situation with our daughter and we need to fix it together as parents."

Lindsay was released from her court-ordered rehab at UCLA Medical Center on Tuesday evening after serving only 22 days. She entered the facility on August 2 to begin serving a 90-day sentence, as ordered by Judge Marsha Revel.

Judge Revel sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail and a 90-day inpatient rehabilitation program on July 6 for violating her probation in an old DUI case. She ended up serving only 14 days due to good behavior and overcrowding at the jail.

Your right there is really going to be a huge lawsuit when she ends up dead and it's a sure bet she will. Hate to say it this girl is headed for the graveyard. She just won't learn that she has a drug/alcohol problem all due to her parents who are both lousy at being parents and the mother is certainly in denial of Lindsey's problem.. Lindsey needs to learn that she too is very responsible for what is happening to her.........as the saying goes"a child can't blame their parents for everything nor forever". Exactly!! It is my understanding is that addiction is for ever. I have a dear friend that has been clean and sober for about 25 years, but she is still an addict as far as she is concerned. I don't think that this twit is indeed "cured" and treatment was a success. I just hope that she does not kill or hurt anyone but herself when she gets high the next time, if it has not already happened.

Are you kidding me. She did only 12 days for a 90 day sentance. She should do more. Her dad gives her credit for her rehab success. What success, she wasn't there long enough. She'll mess up again, wait and see. What a loser. Looks like it runs in the family.

I hate to say it, but Michael is right about he and Dina and Lindsay sitting down and going through family counseling as a family, but first he and Dina need to stop this blaming each other, and this game of "He said, she said"!

LL is a troubled young lady, It is just a matter of time b4 it happens again. I feel sorry 4 her, and her parents. I am sure there is enough blame on both sides.

I just feel it is a sad situation all around, where no one wins.

Rehabs do not work for everyone.

AA would be a great 1st step for LL but it is doubtful that she and/or her mother would be willing to go that route.

Then a counsellor, familiar with alcohol abusers.

Just think of what would happen to the parent's reputation. OUCH.

They obviousle do not care for their daughter, except for what THEY can receive from her success.

I think Lindsey is a good performer, and she is Beautiful and still young enough to change her ways.

I agree with u totally, her mother is her biggest threat. She keeps making excuses, and criticizing everyone who is trying to help her daughter. Her father isn't correct but at least he is realistic. This is surely a family for the Dr. Phil show. All everyone wants is Lindsay to make money. She really can't act. She is surely going to kill herself or kill someone else.

You take YOU with you..Where ever you go. . she seems to have gotten off of responsability for her actions again..It's the Dr's fault, not the court.. we"ll see what happens from here.
