Miley Cyrus Splits From Boyfriend Liam Hemsworth

The breakup rumors are true--Miley Cyrus and her boyfriend of over a year, Liam Hemsworth, have called it quits, PEOPLE reports. His rep confirmed to the magazine that the 'Last Song' co-stars were indeed no longer dating. Gossip Cop first reported the news earlier today.

It's been speculated for months that the pair were no longer together--and in June, Cyrus even took to her website to assure fans that they were still together and "so happy." But something must have changed over the summer.

Earlier this year, in happier times for the couple, the Disney star, 17, told PEOPLE that Hemsworth was one of a kind. "I'm not really a big lovey person. I'm not, like, mushy. [But] Liam was the first person that made me want to be in a real relationship," she said.

The 20-year-old Australian actor also spoke highly of his beau at the time, saying their relationship was "pretty serious" and that he liked her "big heart."

News of the breakup comes days after details about her Cyrus's new film role hit the web. In her new movie, 'LOL: Laughing Out Loud,' Cyrus's character loses her virginity, smokes pot, gets wasted and kisses two girlfriends on the lips. Her character even accidentally shows her mom Ana, played by actress Demi Moore, her Brazilian wax.

The film focuses on communication gap between Lola and her mother, due to the increasing use of YouTube, iTunes and Facebook. Lola's mom, Anne, "accidentally" reads her teenage daughter's racy journal and dicovers Lola's wild ways. The film will debut next year.

Too bad about the LOL movie character she will be playing. No, she doesn't have to stay an innocent, sweet tween, but there are lots of impressionable, young girls who will want to be like her = her character: losing their virginity, getting brazilian waxes, etc. I know 'cause I was an impressionable tween, teen, and young adult. I'm glad I'm not a parent 'cause I'd want my kids watching "Leave it to Beaver" and the "Brady Bunch" and not what is made these days. "LOL" will suit lots of teens and tweens perfectly 'cause it will be similar to their lives, but it will also influence tweens and teens who are not like Miley's character in the movie to follow Miley = her character. Sad.

My Children loved Hannah Montana. As a Mother I am appalled by the fact that Miley is staring as such a racy character in LOL. I understand that she is growing up. However her adult character & clothing does not need to appear as though she has no respect for herself. Children & Teens look up to her.

I don't really see the big deal in a three year age difference. In many states (not just in the South by the way) 17 is legal anyway. Her love life isn't really the issue. The issue is the negative influence she has on girls MUCH younger than her.

So she split with her boyfriend. She is 17 did anyone really think she would be with him for the rest of her life? She's a teenager who will probably have more breakups over the next few years. She will eventually find the one.
Yes I'm sure it is a tramatic time for her. This prbably being her first true love. She will grow from the exprience.
As for the new movie, you may not like the character she is playing but she is growing up and will do more adult roles.

Nobody cares about her breaking up with her boyfriend. I think the public is just sick of having her shoved down their throats. This barely even qualifies as celebutard news, yet here it is the front page of PopEater. Miley's publicists are always hard at work.

For all of you people who are talking bad about Miley because of the character she will be playing get over it. That is why it is called acting. To the other mothers I agree this will so tweens and teens another side of Miley that they will want to be like. This is not something my children will watch, but some people will allow their children to see this. As for her relationship with Liam, that was legal for her to date him and vise versa. In the United States, most 17 year old girls are considered an adult and therefore can date someone whom might be 20 years old.
