Original Blue Power Ranger Reveals He Was Taunted on Set for Being Gay

Almost two decades after leaving 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,' one of the most popular children's shows in TV history, the original Blue Ranger reveals it was behind-the-scenes taunting about his sexuality that eventually led him to walk off the show, EW.com reports. David Yost opened up about the life-changing experience to No Pink Spandex, a site dedicated to the Power Rangers.

About 20 years ago, after being taunted for years for being gay, Yost walked off the set.

"The reason that I walked off is that I was called 'f-–' one too many times. I had just heard that several times while working on the show from creators, producers, writers, directors... Basically I just felt like i was continually being told I was not worthy of being where I am because I'm a gay person. And I'm not supposed to be an actor. And I'm not a superhero," Yost said.

The former Blue Ranger was very candid in the interview, at times, even tearing up when remembering events at that time.

"I know that my co-stars were called in a couple times into different producer's offices and questioned about my sexuality which is kind of an humiliating experience to hear that and to find that out. There were just a lot of issues," Yost recalls.

The harassment was so bad, Yost even thought about taking his own life. "It just felt like a bad marriage. I could either stay and finish six more months -- do the second movie and finish six more months of the show -- or just... I was kinda worried about my life. I was worried I might take my own life," he reveals.

It was after a nervous breakdown and several years of soul searching that Yost eventually found peace. The former actor is now working behind the camera in Hollywood as a producer.

Your kids seem to have good careers, does that mean they are good people or that you were a good parent? NO way in hell! You can be rich and still a terrible person. How did you get rich? How do you make money? Many ways you can be unjustly rich. You measure your kids by their wealth? What would you do if they were not that successful? What would you do if they had successful blue collar jobs? As far as being gay is concerned, suppose they were gay, would you still love them? Or would you toss them out like so many UNEDUCATED parents would? Love your kids for who they are. You are the most important person in their life. To everyone else, don't hate this person. If you hate this person, you are being like this person. Just take a moment of silence and hope that another son or daughter is not scared by their parents because of their homosexuality and not being sure if Mom or Dad will UNDERSTAND and accept. If your kids stole would you forgive them? If they lied would you forgive them? If they cheated would you forgive them? If they disrespected you would you forgive them? Then if they are gay, why won't you accept them?

How ironic a gay person like Elton John could sing a song that is contrary to his lifestyle. This went over some people's heads.I don't hate anyone and we will all answer to God.He has the final say. Wide is the road to hell.

My question is why bring it up now?
Nothing against gays but #1. it was a different time,different views back then.Most likely only issue was it was a childrens program.
#2. This just leels like another gay attention getter story.
Cant you just enjoy whatever you want in the bedroom and shut the hell up? You would be amazed at the amount of people who just dont care about your sexual preferences.
Obviously gays OWN Hollywood and have for decades so it cant be all that bad.

i seem to remember the ONLY thing us parents of those "poor harmed from this revalation" 1990's era kids learning from power rangers is how to beat the dirt out of each other! how many kids got hurt on the playground trying to emulate the red ranger jumping and kicking and all *LOL*

The ONLY people who can tell you if they're "born" gay are the gay people themselves.
All of you who say it's a choice must admit to everyone that you, yourselves struggle with your attractions for the same sex. Obviously no on can be born "straight" either. It's a choice. Is there anyone out there stupid enough to believe that?
