Julio Iglesias Marries Girlfriend of 20 Years

Eternally suave Latin pop icon Julio Iglesias has married Miranda Rijnsburger, his girlfriend of 20 years and mother of five of the singer's children, according to a statement published by
HOLA! magazine.
Iglesias, 66, and his bride, 44, tied the knot on Aug. 24 in an intimate ceremony in Marbella, Spain. According to reports, only his five sons and two other witnesses were there, and the nuptials were followed by a traditional Catholic mass in a chapel at his farm in nearby Malaga.
The 'To All the Girls I've Loved Before' crooner met Rijnsburer, a Dutch model, while visiting Indonesia in late 1990 and soon struck up a relationship. They had their first child, a son named Miguel, in 1997, followed by Rodrigo, twins Cristina and Victoria, and, in 2007, another son, Guillermo.
He was previously married to Isabel Preysler, the mother of his three older children, Isabel, Julio Jr., who recently announced he's engaged, and Enrique. That marriage ended in divorce in 1979.
In March, Iglesias told HOLA! that he had enjoyed "twenty years of many beautiful things" with his Dutch partner and that he "loves her deeply."
Iglesias has sold more than 200 million records worldwide since debuting in the late 1960s.

The fact that they have waited this long could also mean that they were waiting for the death of the first wife so they could be married in the Catholic Church as an annulment was not possible. There are a lot of reasons for things that are really none of our business. I am as guilty as the next for reading......

Beverly....tell me would a piece of paper make the relationship last any longer? Are you at all aware of the divorce rate in the US, let alone out of the country. Remember they are not Americans. He is Spanish and she is a Hollander.

Bernie, is it not a good thing that he did not ask or want you then? I have to get out of here, I think that I am still feeling the effects of the full moon the other night........

People don't get married, you idiots, because it doesn't work. 60% end in divorce, 30% get cheated on, 5% fight and hate each other but see no way out and stay for the kids, which leaves about 5% of "true love." Maybe the guy wanted to hang on to his money, maybe he only wanted to be married once, maybe they had problems for a while, maybe one of them was afraid, maybe they are swingers, who cares if they marry. Marriage doesn't raise kids, parents do. Why do people still think that a piece of paper makes a family?!!! It's just a legal contract, it means nothing.

That "piece of paper" you're so cavalier about means something to God!
Wow, she sure is patient and had five kids too. She is stunning. I hope he is worth it.

Big deal! So he married someone he was with for 20 years! It's like making a big deal out of someone who put on an old shoe! It's been on his foot for TWENTY YEARS! Who cares!

Wow ! Twenty two years difference in their ages. She married him at the right time...chances are he will go before she does. She is beautiful and I do like his " For All The Girls I've Loved Before". Bet there were lots of them. Girls that is. Good for them making it legal .

The article states they were together for 20 years, but that they met in the late 1990's....so which is it?

Read the article again dear. It says they met in 1990. Do the math - that's 20 years ago. Duh.

About time they got married, I say.
