Jessica Simpson Wants 'Real Women' on the Runway

Jessica Simpson recently told Lucky magazine that she was on a curve kick. "We all obsess over looking like the perfect Barbie type, and that's not always what's beautiful," the pop star said. "It's about making peace with yourself."

In an effort to practice what she preaches, the pop star is making sure more curves are coming to New York Fashion Week.

Simpson announced that she'll be using "real women" to model her new clothing line.

"Jessica Simpson plans to unveil her latest collection for the media at New York Fashion Week in September, but there's a twist," a friend of the budding fashion mogul reportedly told Life & Style Magazine. "Instead of using super-skinny models to showcase her designs, Jessica has decided to send her best friends -- real women in real sizes -- down the aisle."

Surprisingly, it was Simpson's lack of curves that caused a stir earlier this month following the Lucky spread and interview. There were accusations that the photos of Simpson inside of the issue had been altered to play down her figure.

Simpson appeared to be aware of the practice even before the spread, telling the Huffington Post last winter, "I don't look like the girl on the cover of the magazine. I do not look like my covers. My covers! They airbrush me."

Simpson is FAT. Look at that picture of her. The girl is FAT. She is puffed=up and sqwoozed into that dress. Ridiculous. She wants curvy models? She is FAT. Look at her face. Look at her arms and the backfat.

I think by saying "real women" just means women who arnt in the fashion business and are women you would typically see on the street. Model size is hardly the typical size for women. I dont think its anything against naturally thin women like yourself. I am sure a variety of sizes will be represented.

Curvy is fine, flabby is not. Curvy is fine, muffin tops are not. Curvy is fine, back fat is not. See where I'm going with this? Don't blame the fashion industry for projecting an image that clothes look best in.

Skinny is fine, seeing your ribs is not. Skinny is fine, Someone being unhealthy to be skinny is not. I am sorry but I don't think its black or white there are many shades of gray! I have seen some teeny tiny models with muffin tops. I have also seen some teeny tiny models with flat chests and flat backs. I wouldn't say that's flattering either. I think some boobs and a round bum is what the clothes look best in.

real women arent a size negative zero..... i look at all the super models and they all need to eat a cheeseburger or 2 and actually not throw it up. If there were more women in this world that are high profile like Jessica and Tyra then maybe there wouldnt be teenage girls starving themselves to look like them. Good for her for sticking up for us CURVY women.....

Curvy is great. Being too heavy to me is not curvy. I am overweight, I do not like to be called curvy, I need to lose weight, and I am doing so. For some larger girls the term curvy is used to not eat healthy and/or exercise. I am a 12/14 but look much better at a size 6 or 8. That is not too small for a short person. On a taller person a size 12 might be perfectly fine and healthy for their body type. But a size 20 and all that is NOT Healthy. This is not meant to be critical. Everyone has to start where they are on the way to a healthier lifestyle.
