Report: Oxygen Tank Glitch Might Be Responsible for Death Martin Short's Wife
A faulty oxygen tank might have contributed to the
sudden death of Martin Short's wife, Nancy Dolman,
RadarOnline.com reports. Dolman died this past Saturday at the couple's Pacific Palisades home in California. She was 58.
On Saturday morning, the Los Angeles City Fire Department went to their home in response to a 911 emergency call. In the 911 call, a woman is heard saying Dolman is "not breathing" and that "she's going to die."
"This patient... was on oxygen, we had problems with the gauge here in the tank, she's off oxygen," the woman said.
The dispatcher tells the woman to perform CPR. "If she is able to fight you she is able to breathe on her own," the operator said.
"Is she awake and talking to you?" the operator asked.
"Yes she is," the caller answered. The woman on the call hasn't been identified.
Dolman, best known for a recurring role as Annie Selig Tate on the TV sitcom 'Soap,' met Short in 1972 while both were working on a stage production of 'Godspell.' She was Gilda Radner's understudy, but quickly caught the attention of Short. They married in 1980 and five years later she retired from acting to raise their family.
The couple has three children: Katherine Elizabeth, 27, Oliver Patrick, 24, and Henry, 20.

I doubt VERY seriously that this was a true call ... and if it was it was probably speculation on the part of the caller or on the part of the reporter. I worked as an ER nurse and an ICU nurse for many years and I never heard of anyond dying as a result of being off tank oxygen. I'm sure you noticed that the caller also said "she's dying, she's dead" followed by the operator's statement that if she was fighting (against the CPR, one supposes) that she didn't need CPR.
She had cancer. Not sure what kind exactly as it was listed as being discovered in the groin area; lymphoma maybe???
i am also on oxygen andwould like to know what happened. i want martin to know God will help him through this.

I would like to know why as well. When you are on oxygen full time at home you are usually on what is called a concentrator which operates with electricity and has no "regulator" like tanks. The only reason I could think of why she was on tanks is that perhaps she needed more purity and a higher level of oxygen than the concentrator would provide. Does anyone know why she was ill and on the oxygen?

She haD Breast Cancer a few yrs ago. perhaps it Spread and she now needed it to help her breath.
There is a "high flow" concentrator now for people who need the extra oxygen and it is easier using the concentrator.
I am so sad to hear... I love Martin Short and saw him in Biloxi 5 years ago. He was performing at one of t he casinos there in their beautiful theater they also have there. He came into teh sudience and I stretched my arm to get to shake his hand, as I was sitting a few chairs down form the aisle chair. He saw me and I guess my enthusiansm, and leaned over to shake my hand. He was so wonderful and one of the few that could really make me laugh.... Now, I am crying fo rhim and his family. I feel so bad for him. He must be so distraught. I admired how he had such a long marriage in Hollywood, and how he was faithful to one woman. He seems like such a great guy. I will definitely keep him and his family in my prayers.

i often like to stick my finger in my areas and dig for treasure then take my frosing finger and stick it under a fatty chicks nose and DEMAND the porker smell my finger .. then if she pulls away i swipe that frosing on any exposed skin i can find then run away laughing ... ahhh memories ... go try the smell my finger on someone near you right now .. you will laugh and laugh and laugh.. and when your going to sleep tonight you will giggle remembering the smell my finger you pulled on someone today .. do it now .. smell my finger needs to be done on someone you know NOW .. It smelled fishy to you. Oh. She was a good actress and he is funny. They had three Adult Children. She was very, very ill. She could not get oxygen into her lungs but still had a full heart and soul. I know, you don't get it. Best of everything to a REAL MAN and their Family. It's difficult no matter how it ended and I am encouraged to see that you are "still a family" even with her gone. She is with you still in heart.
