Why Chris Brown Won't Tour With Usher

After July's well-received joint appearance onstage in Jamaica, and an enthusiastic remark that producer Bryan-Michael Cox made in an interview with Jermaine Dupri ("Usher and the boy Chris Brown are going on tour, y'all know that, right?"), fans expected a major concert collaboration to be announced.

On Tuesday's broadcast of BET's '106th and Park,' however, Chris Brown dismissed the rumor while plugging his film 'Takers,' saying he wanted to focus on solo efforts. Many questioned the explanation, and speculated that Usher -- whose reps have issued a statement denying a tour partnership -- wants to distance himself Brown, still struggling to repair his image after his notorious 2009 arrest for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna.

But now, a source is telling the New York Post that there's a much simpler reason: money.

An industry insider points to Brown's current Live Nation contract as the roadblock, because it's a deal Brown reportedly can't be freed from in order to be loaned out for a tour with Usher. In other words, he'd potentially be subject to legal action if he broke the agreement.

Meanwhile, another source tells the Post all is copacetic between the singers: "Usher has no issue with Chris....He and his camp were absolutely positive to the notion of touring. There were discussions, but it did not pan out."

Brown is famously banned from performing in the United Kingdom, thanks to the case that made him as well-known among many celeb-watchers for his domestic violence crime as for his music career. Although a judge recently praised the 21-year-old singer's progress in a probation hearing, he reportedly continues having trouble securing a travel visa for overseas performances, and getting radio programmers to play his singles.

people can forgive charlie sheen who allegedly held a knife to his wifes throat and won't serve any time for it.but they can't forgive a 21 year old who has shown he is sorry...one day this great country will have equal for all races.

also rihanna didn't deserve what she got...no one deserves that..shame on u lil GIRLS who think she deserved that..that is what is wrong with women.y'all don't have each others back.guys have brotherhood and loyalty for each other..

You know for some of your sakes....I hope your sons and grandsons NEVER have a moment and hit a woman. If that ever happens...I'd patiently wait to see if you'd bash your own son, uncle, or any other male in your family for the rest of his life. It amazes me how people act holier than thou as if this could never happen just ONCE with males close to them.

I'd also hope that you are against abuse on both ends...both by men and women. Otherwise you'd sound pretty irrational as abuse against men is also a real fact

Wow, Chris Brown must truly feel special to have such a loyal, illiterate following. I suggest you study more, focussing on your spelling and grammar, while spending less time idolizing a grown child who'd raise his hand in violence to a woman. Sure he's sorry. Sorry like Ike Turner.

This is good for Usher. You see what happened to Chris Brown...Even though many other men do that same, but it didn't hurt their careers. And I am kind of tired of certain male, R&B singers. They don't make music for their race anymore. I prefer the female singers anyway.

chris brown is a kid people.. and kids do stupid things..from the reports i read and heard she did things too (and she got mad about a text he received and thats what started the whole thing) but people seem to forget that. GIVE THE KID A BREAK. he is a VERY TALENTED DANCER. but people won't get past his past. just think how many entertainers have done things. WE HAVE JUST NEVER HEARD ABOUT.. and from rhianna"s music, shes not over him!!!!
there are 2 sides to every story and its over and done with, LET THESE TWO TALENTED KIDS MOVE ON IN THEIR LIFE..
