Paris Hilton Arrested in Vegas on Cocaine Charges

Luck wasn't on Paris Hilton's side this weekend in Sin City, when Las Vegas police pulled over the car she was in just before midnight and allegedly found a white powder in her purse that, upon testing, proved to be cocaine. The celebutante was then arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, and booked into the Clark County detention center, according to ABC News. She was soon released on bail.

The socialite, 29, was in the passenger seat of a car driven by a male thought to be her boyfriend, nightclub owner Cy Waits. Why was Hilton pulled over near the Wynn Hotel and Casino in the first place? Las Vegas police spokesman Marcus Martin told the Associated Press cops thought they smelled marijuana coming from the car: "Officers noticed a vehicle leaving a smoke trail of a controlled substance [and] made a stop based on that." He added that a crowd gathered to witness the police stop after Hilton was recognized by passers-by.

According to TMZ, Hilton has hired "powerful Vegas lawyer" David Chesnoff (whose past clients include Suge Knight and Vince Neil) to handle her case. And despite the fact that Hilton was the only woman in the vehicle when authorities pulled it over, she is reportedly insisting that the purse wasn't hers.

Hilton's had a busy summer on both sides of the law. Just days ago, cops came to her Los Angeles residence to arrest a knife-weilding intruder on her property, who was allegedly attempting to break into her home. During the World Cup in July, she was questioned by police in South Africa on suspicion of marijuana charges, but soon released.

Earlier this month, she unveiled the Paris Hilton Shoe Collection at a convention center in Las Vegas.

Paris Hilton is just another Hollywood type, who thinks the law doesn't apply to her. She is used to buying her way out of trouble, anyplace she goes in the world. Wouldn't it be nice if some Judge in Nevada grew a pair of those specialized body parts and rewarded Hilton with some serious jail time. Wouldn't it be even nicer, if she had to serve all the time and was not released early because of alleged jail overcrowding? That is what it will take to get her attention.

Next some one else in the car will step forward and say the drugs were theirs, not Hilton's. That person will get paid to do her jail time, just like people get paid to do her "singing" and probably got paid to do her homework before she dropped out of high school.

What is else is new; besides the fake barber. Another one fights the dust!!! I beleive she should be put in jail for a long time not 30 mins and shes out; if it was someone that was not a well known celebrity they would have been charged and jailed for some time. She is one poor example, she looks fake and talks fake. The poor paris dog...

Sounds like you know all about the amount of dope or amount of other burning illegal drugs to be smelled by someone - Vegas or not.

Just the type of additional role model this country needs for sure.

Doubt that you will ever have to worry about being famous and make the headlines after you get arrested for your own drug use.

by the way, a guy in Florida got TEN YEARS for violating his probation and lying to the judge. The crime he was on probation for happened eleven years ago when he was a teenager. Lindsay got off just fine.

There is no better feeling in the world than helping someone less fortunate than ourselves.....offering to rake someone's yard,shovel an aging neighbor's driveway of snow, making food for a sick person that needs your help.....there are a myriad number of ways to get your mind off of 'self' and onto others....Aren't we all charged to "love your neighbor as you love yourself"? Just maybe that was put in the Bible for a twofold reason. The world would be a better place to live in and also you might just LIKE the feeling you get from helping others.

It is not just hollywood types that do these things. ALL kinds of people do it and get away with it. I see it everyday in Texas and Texas is known for punishing people. Hollywood types are just in the spot light. Just put your neighbors name in a criminal search site and you will find that you live next dooe to a crack head.
