Kate Gosselin at Emmys: Lookin' for a Job (and a Man)

Kate Gosselin was a woman on a mission last night at the Emmy Awards, telling friends it was the perfect venue to find a new acting job and, yep, a new man.

"Kate has made her mind up that she's going to be an actress and hopes her new profession will result in her finding a new man," a friend of the mom 'o eight tells me, explaining that she saw the Emmys as the "perfect place" to network with casting directors and producers.

I'm told Kate has really enjoyed being a reality (and 'DWTS') star, but now she's ditching reality to focus on scripted work in an effort to be the next Edie Falco or, if she's looking to get into comedy, Tina Fey. Wait, that IS funny!

"The show she would really like to be cast in is 'Mad Men,'" my source deadpanned.

You have to admire Kate's confidence. Anyone else might feel a little intimidated walking the same red carpet as some of television's best-loved actors, including the legendary Betty White, but not the star 'Kate Plus 8.' Sources tell me she felt at home on the red carpet, but was a tad disappointed she didn't get a chance to meet George Clooney.

"Kate looks at the happiness of couples who met on sets together -- Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer and Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks come to mind -- and believes that's how she is going to find love again," an insider tells me. "She has it all planned out and won't take no for an answer."

This woman is such an idiot. Why in the world would she think George Clooney would remotely be interested in her. Hello, McFly? He dates models, not other people's throw aways with 8 kids.

Note to Kate: No guy with half a brain is going to date a woman with 8 kids. If they do, chances are they're an out of work actor or musician looking for a little publicity to hype their non-career by getting exposure on her show or magazine covers. I can picture it now, the guy saying:

"yeah Kate, I know I'll hit it big, I just need to use some of your cash to record my CD"

Forget that a man wouldn't want kate cuz of the kids -- they wouldn't want her because of her bossy nasty disposition. i don't think she's that good a mom either. i've seen her with her kids on the show and she's not an affectionate mom. she's cold and bossy and she's going to have trouble with the 2 older girls. they see their mother for who she is and they are little twits themselves. i know, they are just kids, but take a look at the younger little folks, they are sweet and sensitive. the older girls are mean and bossy like their mother.

Kate, you need to remember that you are a Mom! Everything you do ultimately effects the lives of 8 other people. Who are easily influenced by everything that you do. I can understand your need for a job. But be realistic about your expectations of yourself, finding a husband should not be a priority. Get out of the lime light that is what killed your life before! I wish you luck in finding your way back to the real world!!!!!

I was just saying she IS a nurse. Also if Jon would WORK and pay child support then YES they could survive !!! Also, don't need to live in a million dollar mansion !!!! I was a single parent at one time. Not saying its easy, but it CAN be done. Millions of women and men do it everyday !!!

I admire kate..At least she's trying to make a life for herself and her 8 kids...She's trying to get out there and make a living for herself and her kids..As for jon? You never hear anything about him trying to make a go of it for his kids..the last time I heard..he was hold up at his brother's house lying on the couch on front of the television!!!!!!! You go Kate!!!!!

So many mean-spirited people on this site who believe everything they read or hear. Kate's children are very well taken care of and she deserves all the credit for that, not Jon. They are clean, well-dressed and well-fed and couldn't have a more caring mother. She deserves to get out or date or get her nails done like any other woman out there. There were tons of actresses there last night that have children or nannies to help them out and nobody's saying anything about any of them. How old do you think Kate's kids have to be before she has your permission to leave the house - age 21? The kids are all in school now and they're not infants anymore. I can't believe people can defend Jon after the way he was running with more than one woman while they were still married and still doesn't have a job. Thank goodness for Kate who is self-supporting for herself and her 8 children. She has every right to live in a nice house...at least she's spending the money they've all earned for a home for them...now is the time when they need the room, not 20 years from now.

As for Jon, it was like having another child to take care of and she's better off without him. I never missed an episode and she had to beg him to help her. And as far as abusive, when did he ever say a kind word to her or offer any support to her? Never!!!! No wonder she exploded!

Life is too short for you to sit around attacking Kate Gosselin. It's a beautiful day outside - go outside and take a walk for Heaven's sake. Maybe it'll brighten your attitude. Good grief! How do some of you people get through each day with such hatred and meanness towards other people? Let the woman alone and if you don't like her, don't watch her show.

Actually nurses do make great money. Her kids are all in school now. She could work the day shift, and have jon or someone watch them for just a few hours after school maybe 2 or 3 days only. shifts are only 3 days aweek now 12 hour shifts. With my charge nurse pay, my weekend pay, and minus my awsome health insurance I was bringing home around 75 thousand a year. yes i know its not the millions she is use too. But she can budget it and make it on that if she wanted too. she will just have to give up her fancy clothes, her manicures, and hair appointments. she brought the kids in to this world they didnt ask for it, so it is her job to sacrafice to support them anyway she needs too.
i really dont think she will get another year from her show. everyone hates her and wants her to go away. going back to nursing might be her ticket. its a good honest job.

Did someone try to tell you how to earn a living? NO!!!
