Dublin redefined 'Welcome to the Jungle' for Axl Rose and Guns N' Roses on Wednesday night. Rose stormed off stage at Dublin's O2 Arena after the unruly Irish crowd threw glass bottles at him for showing up an hour and a half late, ruining the night for thousands of nostalgic fans.
The crowd was booing (loudly and profanely) before the music even started, and Rose stopped the show immediately after the bottles were thrown at the stage during the first song. Watch a Curse-Riddled Fan Video:
"Alright, here's the deal. One more bottle, we go home," Rose warned. "It's up to you. We'd like to stay. If you don't want to have fun, all you have to do is let us know, and we'll go on our way."
The music began again, but 25 minutes and three songs later, it stopped, and Rose stormed off the stage, this time saying: "Have a good evening."
In video from the incident, the crowd is cursing and booing at the band nonstop.
Forty minutes later, the band came back out to play 'Sweet Child o' Mine,' and completed the full set. The show ended at 1:30AM, however, and most of the crowd had already left.
That said ... Irish fans should have already been wary going into the experience, seeing as Rose has a detailed history of tardy performances.
You would think with all the soccer they watch in Ireland that standing around getting drunk waiting for something to happen wouldnt be such a big deal for them.
Don't be such a turd! Making people wait an hour and a half? The ONLY difference between God and Axl is God knows HE is no rock singer. And damn piss ant Yanks wanna talk about RUDE? Rude is starting a performance 1 and 1/2 hours LATE, while people who PAID to see your arse wait without explanation...THAT is rude! It's a rocker, NOT the friggin Pope or Jesus Christ, Himself! Good on Ya Ireland!
Axl Rose is the most overrated singer and songwriter ever born. The very idea that he keeps people waiting over an hour and a half. He acts like he thinks he is Shakespeare or Faulkner or something. The man is a middle-aged rocker who never had it so good because of the fans. He should show some reverence for his audiences and be there on time. You IDIOT! And I am American.
I'm with you. That is showing absolutely no respect for the people who made you rich. I have been to dozens of concerts with bands much, much better than G&R and have never had to wait. As a matter of fact, you can usually call the venue and find out exactly what time every act is due on stage, and they are there, give or take 15 minutes. I hope the people that left got their money back.
I don't blame him, I would not have played for people who were throwing bottles at me either..., I don't care whether you are a fan or not, that was RUDE, not to metion dangerous.I have never been to Dublin, but this make me take pause.
I remember seeing "Guns & Roses" in L.A. a long time ago. They opened for the "Rolling Stones". They were a great act. Love Axl Rose's voice. What is wrong with the Irish? Throwing bottles at other people is very bad.

I'm sure they were "empties," which explains why the drunken sots were tossing them.
