Failed Letterman Blackmailer Freed From Jail Early

The former television producer who tried to blackmail David Letterman over the comedian's office affairs has been freed from a New York City jail. City Department of Correction records show Robert "Joe" Halderman was released Thursday. He served four months of his six-month sentence and got time off for good behavior.

The former CBS News producer admitted he demanded $2 million in hush money last fall to keep from revealing personal information about Letterman. The case spurred the 'Late Show' host to reveal on-air that he'd had sex with women on his staff.

Halderman's lawyer says his client is glad to put jail behind him and is looking for work. Meanwhile, he has to complete 1,000 hours of community service.

1st of all, Eva, would you forgive someone who potentially ripped apart your entire family all in the name of ratings? And, PAMELA S., whether you "accept it", or not, extortion is a CRIME in this country...a very serious CRIME...in which Dave was the VICTIM of, (sorry Sir Alex, adultry is NOT a crime, and even if it was, we don't even know if he was married at the time). So, of course it only makes PERFECT sense for Dave's very own caNine - only one n in that sweetie - to bite HIM. What's wrong with me? I think Dave has exactly the type of "following he wishes" for - an intelligent one. Your S. obviously doesn't stand for smart (quite the opposite actually), as well as small-minded... and I'm taking back the sweetie...it's not a crime.

David WAS married at the time and lived with his wife for YEARS before they married.

David is responsible for "ripping apart his family " by his own actions.He is to blame and NO ONE else. Get your head screwed on straight!!!

There is no evidence that Dave did anything while he was married. The only one claiming that was the convicted extortionist. Not exactly the best witness.

No, he admitted to having relationships with women that worked for him. Thats all. Not once has he ever said that he had a relationship with these women while he was married.
