It's Official: Kara DioGuardi Exits 'American Idol'

Fans can't be blamed for thinking this was already common knowledge, but in fact, the departure of Kara DioGuardi from 'American Idol' has been merely a presumption all summer -- until now. On the Friday evening before Labor Day, Fox quietly issued a press release confirming what everyone has suspected for weeks: the 39-year-old singer-songwriter-producer will not return as a judge on 'Idol.'
According to
EW.com, Fox's announcement included this statement from DioGuardi: "I felt like I won the lottery when I joined 'American Idol' two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave 'Idol'....It has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to FOX, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!"
The Fox hit series had been smashing ratings records for several years with the same three judges when producers made the widely criticized decision to expand the panel to four judges for season 8, adding DioGuardi -- as fans and contestants uttered in unison, "
Who?" Reviews on her contribution to the show were consistently mixed, but she soldiered on (holding steady as Paula Abdul was replaced by Ellen DeGeneres for season 9), always striving to provide a voice of credibility stemming from her years working in the pop music recording industry.
"Kara is one of the world's best songwriters," said Simon Fuller, creator and exec producer of 'Idol,' whose statement was included in the Fox press release. "She has been passionate and committed....I will miss having her on the show, but I look forward to working with her in music for many years to come."
Simon Cowell departed 'Idol' to great fanfare in May. And just over a month ago, DeGeneres announced in late July that her one-season experiment as a judge would not be repeated. Certainly, the slate is cleared now for the news fans are truly eager to hear: the announcement of which rumored stars will officially debut on the new 'Idol' panel (alleged to include only one original judge, Randy Jackson) when the show returns in January. Will it be a Jackson-J.Lo-Steven Tyler trifecta, after all? Place your final bets now!

"Kara is one of the world's best songwriters," said Simon Fuller,
What has she written? I've never heard of her but I'm a geezer.

to BTDT-all you have to do is google karas name and you will see all the amazing songs she has written....
A swkeptic at first but in short time I came to value Ms. DioGuardi's keen analitical understanding of the shows varied artist's performances. She brought an intelegence, warmth and insiders savy to American Idol that came from the heart. Mr. Cowl's proven judgement will hopefully prevail in solidifying the new pannel. I hope he goes for substance over sizzle and puts forth judges open to varied styles of music and an ability to enlighten viewers with regard to tan artists technique, unique style and musical history....Sir Elton John would be an ideal choice!

You need to learn to spell.
Huh?? Sorry dude but in an attempt to sound "intelegent"(try intelligent) you sort of failed. Analitical? Try analytical. Panel-not pannel. And what is tan artists technique? I do agree that Elton John would be good-but why would he do it? He's a multi-millionaire and doesn't need the money. The show is going down-I think it will last maybe a couple more years then be gone-without Simon why watch?
So what if there are spelling errors. I get what he is saying and he is pretty much right on.
I agree with everything you said. What a coincidence--I knew a Mark Ellis at Edison highschool years ago. No wonder you're so smart! Just gotta watch those typing errors. hahaha
WTF! This person must be one of those there ignorant tea bagger bigots who hate that there education -- the likes of Sarah Palin aka Sarah Stupid.
Bristol: Is that you? Get your tubes tied and go back to school already - you can't spell and are going to end up as dumb as your mom.
For me, Kara was just one of those people who had an aura of nastiness and mean, even when she was smiling. I think many read her as a profoundly negative and nasty human being, even though she hid it well. It would manifest here and there, but not much. You could just see it in her eyes and forced expressions. Maybe shes a sociopath. lol.

I agree Stacey, saw her on a Talk Show, very self absorbed, seemed artificial, good ridences, American Idol has seen its better days anyway, perhaps time to pull the plug?
Steady downhill slide . . . .since They added the 4th judge and then Paula left it has been gong from bad to worse. Randy Jackson???? Give me a break . . .I have no desire to see any Jackson on the panel . . .

NO RELATION TO THE JACKSON FAMILY AT ALL.
Your right. They brought a forth judge on, and that was a mistake. They didn't give Paula a raise, and her chemistry with the show, and Simon was missing. The final death bell, Simon has left. I like Randy, but not willing to watch the show any longer.
Hey, I didn't care for Randy at first but now that I know that he is for real, I like him a lot! He is just a good 'dawg'. I think his heart is golden.
This is news? This is the crap that is eating the brains of america's future. I wager that anyone who can tell you the last 3 winners of this stupid contest, cannot tell you the 3 branches of government. These would also be the same people that voted for Odumma, who campaigned like an American idol contestant.
