Paris HiltonParis Hilton's recent headlines reek of desperation. In the wake of the deluge of Lohan press for her substance abuse and subsequent incarceration one can't help but wonder whether Paris' elementary logic led her to believe a coke bust would be the only way to regain the spotlight.

People are paying attention to Paris now for the first time in over a year. Since this woman is typically a well-oiled publicity machine it's hard to believe that any of this is an accident.

But Hilton's former spinmeister, now our own Naughty but Nice Rob Shuter says that while he believes Paris is desperate for attention, she is too lazy to plot something like this as a stunt.

"Knowing Paris I'm sure she doesn't mind that we are all talking about her and not Kim Kardashian for a change but her recent arrest was in no way a press stunt," Shuter says.

"She wouldn't give up a night clubbing for the cover of Time magazine. Paris is happy to be part of press stunts after she wakes up (so nothing before noon) but to ask her to work on getting herself back in the press when she would rather be playing is something she wouldn't even consider."
