Is It Creepy to Speculate About Justin Bieber's Love Life?
Pop-Ed: Anyone out there who has a teenage son or even a little brother can understand some of the revulsion I feel each time I read about Justin Bieber's love life in the entertainment press.
Is he dating
Kim Kardashian? Did Miley Cyrus steal him from Kim? Yuck! I most certainly hope not on both accounts since Justin is just 16.
If the Biebs were a young lady celebrity, we would be pairing her up with older male celebs, but the standards seem to be different since he is a boy.
But that doesn't make it any less creepy that cadres of editors, most of whom are well into their forties with children of their own at home, are making claims about the libidinous pursuits of a child.
"Babyfaced Justin Bieber may seem all grown up when he sings flirtatious songs, but underneath he is fragile when it comes to love, because of having been born to an 18-year-old mother who raised him as a single mom," worries psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman. "The media scrutiny is adding to the problems he will have with love. The photos with Kim Kardashian, for example, were a bit inappropriate. Though both of them tried to downplay any real romance, there was something a bit off about their 'relationship'. Now reports are that Justin is looking for a girlfriend who is funny, confident and not afraid to be herself. But being herself apparently cannot include wearing Ugg boots or big sunglasses."
That's a lot to know about the preferences of a kid who isn't old enough to shave.
Celebrity watcher and author of "Cult of Celebrity" Cooper Lawrence thinks we are blowing this out of proportion. The loves of of famous kids have always been fair game, Lawrence argues. We are just watching it in real time know instead of on a weekly or monthly magazine schedule.
"It's not creepy because entertainment weeklies and tabloids have been reporting on the love lives of teen stars since there were teen stars, David Cassidy, Michael Jackson, Donny Osmond (who, by the way, as a Mormon should have shut it down) but they know their appeal is to young love struck girls so it only ads to their mystique," Lawrence says.
She adds, "Michael Jackson sang about falling in love when he was a pre-teen, even younger than Justin Bieber. And by the way, its his LOVE life, not his sex life that is being reported on plus its also important to remember that their lyrics are about love, crushes, girls etc. Just read the lyrics of 'Favorite Girl' 'or 'Baby'."
Because we have more celebrity access, more websites and more weeklies it feels like this is something new, but it is something that has always gone on. We just have more entertainment vehicles now to feed the desire to know more about the Biebster and dating life.
Unfortunately, as Dr. Lieberman alluded to, dating under a microscope during your teen years can lead to unhealthy relationships later in life. Just ask Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.

Can't we just stop talking about this flash in the pan altogether?
He's a tween star until they find the next one. And he's not even that great of a singer.

How silly, Biebie is going steady with the captain of the high school football team, his name is Biff.

So Val - Does Biff "BUFF HELMETS"?
Yeah, but Jackson's love was not about love for a woman. His later life told the truth that he had no interest in females and he had to buy what he really cherished. Songs like "Enjoy Yourself" and "Beat It" were right on the money. Those children he allegedly raised need to be questioned eventually. Did he change their diapers too? They are somewhat safer now, but not as safe as they should be. They certainly must be confused. They need to go back to the factory. Religion obviously did nothing for Jackson either.

wsa999 you are such an idiot, no one was talking about Jackson and unless you were in his bed, you don't know what the h e-- you are
talking about. I give you 10 out of 10 on the idiot meter.
First of all,"Love life" can mean many different things. Since when is it new for a sixteen year old to be in love? Boys and girls start having those feelings from the moment they hit puberty. Just look at Romeo and Juliet. Second, the author states if Beiber were a girl we would be pairing her up with older male celebs "but the standards seem to be different since he is a boy". Now that is downright sexist!! Also, just because a teen-ager may have a love-life doesn't necessarily mean they have a sex-life. Now, if we are talking about a sex life (which wouldn't suprise me if he did) then yes, I do think it is inappropriate for the media to be discussing this. That's his business and no one else's. (It does make for good celeb gossip, though.)

He could be Ricky Martin's new boy toy or maybe a priest.

or maybe priest toy.
idiotalertmeter: You have to be one to think you know one. Jackson was mentioned in the article that led us to this posting area. Go back and read. If you can't find where Jackson is mentioned, you are really lost. If Jackson were alive, he'd make a date with Bieber and have him perform with him in one or more of his videos until he got older.

How about ya just stop talking about him for good...........

Like we need to know if he's cheating on his right hand with his left.

Isn't it creepy to speculate on any young celebrity's love life? What makes Justin Beiber any more special or different than anyone else? It's really none of our business but sadly it makes a lot of money and until we stop wanting to read about their lives it will never end.

He's 16! Leave the kid alone. I'm only 13 myself and all this crap is just horrible. I'm getting sick and tired of hearing Justin Bieber this and Justin Bieber that. Let the kid go on with his life! Who cares if his mom had him at 18. She's taught him better. His mom wouldn't of let him frolicking in the ocean with Kim if she wasn't there. I understand why everyone wants to bag on him. It's because he's 16 and he's famous. All you people need to look at the facts: He doesn't have a 'sex life' and if he does no one needs to know about it. Even if he has a 'love life' no needs to know about that either. It's HIS life not the whole worlds life. And all you people stop saying he looks like a little girl because he doesn't look like a little girl at all. Just stop all this crap!
