Kendra Wilkinson on Her 'Knockout' Workout DVD

Hugh Hefner's ex-girlfriend, Kendra Wilkinson, has left the Playboy Mansion. After five years of reality shows, photo-ops and Hefner high life, Kendra tied the knot with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett in June 2009. Freshly relocated to Philadelphia (after a stint in Indianapolis), she's a new mom to Hank IV and a successful entrepreneur. The 25-year-old bombshell is bringing her ambition forward with some new projects -- her Playboy memoir 'Sliding into Home' is a top 10 staple of the New York Times Bestseller list, and she's putting out her own workout DVD, 'Be a Knockout With Kendra.'

She recently revealed that she struggled with drug addiction and worked as a stripper for a brief spell. But Wilkinson is by no means the ditzy blonde she appears to be -- she is strong, charming, personable and thoughtful. And boy is she sports-mad!

What motivated you to be as athletic as you are?
I was five years old and I saw a soccer ball and I was hooked. It was so funny, I tried to do the girly thing, putting on skirts and cheerleading, but no, I was a soccer player, and that was my natural gift. I am athletic and I have co-ordination.

'Be a Knockout' has solid advantages. It can be done in a small place without any equipment, for starters.
I know, that's part of the person I am. I have always been an athlete and an outdoor person, and I never use equipment. I play every sport in the book and I'm not blowing smoke up anyone's butt. I play tennis, golf, track and field, everything. I've always had a dream to make a workout video. It was my dream to do it my way and not do what other people wanted me to do for the video. I wanted to put all my sports into it. This isn't just a workout... It's for everyone. Any age can do this, male or female, young, old. Any athlete could do this. These are real moves that athletes do for their sports.

It's an extremely tough workout.
Yes! These are real drills for real sports. My favorite is football and that is really hard. It's what Hank does for his job.

Does it get a little competitive between you?
We're very competitive and it was definitely fun to step into Hank's world for a time.

You have a lot of courage and will. I could see you wavering a bit in the heavy lifting but you kept on pushing through.
Yes! I'm not joking when I said labor with my son was thirty hours of pain. But aside from that, the two days of shooting the video, I'm talking the two hardest days of my life! It was mentally and physically hard but it was so much fun. I just gave birth two months before and I knew I couldn't get back into shape by myself.

How does exercise improve your mental outlook?
Sports is the number one key to being happy because when you step outside, you get a chance to take your mind off your daily life for an hour or two and focus on something else that's fun that your competitive about. You get the chance t take a break from work and thinking of the negatives.

You have a new passion -- your son. How's motherhood?
It is my everyday life now, and every day and every minute I am dedicated to him. He's so much fun. Being an athlete my whole life definitely prepared me for being a mother. Being a mother is the best sport in the world, you have to really be up for it. It gives a whole new meaning to the word "strength". He's so energised and fun to watch, he's crawling and getting all over the place. I took him to the basketball courts yesterday to work out. He saw that basketball and just stared at it. "Give me that ball!"

What are you working on next?
I'm still one of the top sellers on the New York Times Bestsellers list – number eight this week. And I'm thinking about writing a second book!

And rumor has it that Wilkinson is trying for baby number two...

'Be a Knockout With Kendra' is available in stores starting September 7.
