While Jamie Lee Curtis won't discuss her 'Freaky Friday' co-star Lindsay Lohan's recent troubles, she was willing to open up about her own struggle with drug addiction during an interview with Meredith Vieira on NBC's 'Today' show.
"My recovery is the single greatest accomplishment of my life. And without that, the rest of my life would have fallen apart," Curtis, who appeared to promoted her new book, 'My Mommy Hung the Moon,' said.
When asked how she succeeded, the actress chalked it up to "the miracle of recovery." Watch:
"Some people get it. Robert Downey Jr. was in prison for a year. And he is not only the greatest movie star in the world, he's a fantastic representative of someone who can repair the damage of their life. Recovery is an acceptance that your life is in a shambles and you have to change it. I was lucky, I didn't have to lose anything," she explained.
"Recovery and motherhood are the two single greatest things in my life," Curtis added.
In the wake of Michael Jackson's death last year, Curtis admitted in a Huffington Post blog that she had once been addicted to painkillers.
"I too found painkillers after a routine cosmetic surgical procedure and I too became addicted, the morphine becomes the warm bath from which to escape painful reality. I was a lucky one. I was able to see that the pain had started long ago and far away and that the finding the narcotic was merely a matter of time," she wrote.
In an interview with More magazine (via The New York Daily News), the 'You Again' star revealed she became addicted to pills at the age of 35. "No one knew," she said of her troubles.
In the same interview, the 51-year-old revealed that she also drank to ease the "loneliness" she felt and that many of her issues were caused by the pressure to be young and thin in Hollywood.
It is hard to have any sympathy for someone who was a top box office star like Jamie Lee. It shows a total lack of gratitude for what she had. This is where religion fits in. Without religion, one can never be satisfied. With religion, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a gift from God to be relished.
I remember back in the 80`s when I use to BANG Jamie on a weekly basis,we were like nympho rabbits with each other, she was my awesome pony rider and I was her mattress monkey,I really miss her,I will always love you Jamie,DAVID
Love Jamie Lee Curtis since "A fish called Wanda"; but as for Activa; Rotgut. Has anyone noticed the ad where the guy is saying this is great while he looks like he's getting ready to throw up.
Great job Jamie Lee, I love all your movies and thing you are a great actress. I agree that saying I'am sorry isn't good enough, just stay straight. The best thing that my dad told me is to always be true to your self.
Please, please, please Jamie grow your hair and put some color in it. You would look ten years younger. Someone is giving you some bad advice, your hair is making you look metrosexual, not attractive..
Jamie Lee Curtis is the only woman in Hollywood that I've ever been jealous of....for years! She's married to that delicious English Lord and they make a lovely couple.
I have always liked Jamie Lee, as well as her parents. They are talented people, but even the talented can get caught up in that drug maelstrom. Today our younger element of society legitimizes recreational drug use. They consider themselves bullet proof. I consider them 12-step candidates. Jamie did the right thing to reclaim her life and amend her life for her children. I still like Jamie Lee.
Ok, do you think her husband, Christopher Guest, whom she married in 1984 (over a quarter of a century ago), just does the gardening? You're ridiculous. LOTS of couples adobt. Climb back under your rock.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

She's lucky alright that Activia keeps throwing money AT HER. What would she do if she had to get a real job? Be depressed and take drugs?
