Another 'Saturday Night Live' Cast Member Departs

On the heels of Will Forte's announcement that
he'll be departing late-night sketch comedy show 'Saturday Night Live,' it's also been confirmed that Jenny Slate will not be returning this season,
EW.com reports. Slate joined the cast in 2009 and made quite the splash when she
dropped the F-word during her very first show. She played bit parts in sketches for the remainder of the 2009 season.
In addition to her 'SNL' work, Slate recently created and voiced a popular viral video, 'Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,' about a shy, shoe-loving snail. Prior to landing the 2009 'SNL' gig, Slate starred in a one-woman show, 'Jenny Slate: Dead Millionaire.'
Slate's departure is the latest in a slew of 'SNL' casting changes. After Forte's farewell announcement a couple weeks ago, EW also confirmed the show will be adding four new feature players to the cast: actor/comedian Taran Killam, Chicago-based comedians Paul Brittain and Vanessa Bayer and newcomer Jay Pharoah.
'SNL' will begin its 36th season on September 25: former cast member and current 'Parks and Recreation' star
Amy Poehler will host and Katy Perry will be the musical guest.

Sadly, SNL has seen its better days and perhaps should be put to rest now. Unless they have a great guest like Betty White, it's far from hilariously funny, and seems very scripted. It's time for good night and good bye to SNL.

I still think the show is funny, but it is in a down cycle. But that has happened going back to when the original "Not Ready for Prime time Players" left.
My problem is that they put the host in every sketch. That didn't used to be the case, until Robert DiNero hosted. I would stick with the host being in half the sketches.

I grew up on SNL starting with the origional cast members. I always looked forward to Saturday night. I try to watch it to this day, but it never seems to have the humor it once held. I did watch the episode with Betty White and laughed so hard I was in tears. So, I tuned in the following week hoping things had turned around. Again, I was disappointed. How can a program be "on the mark" with every skit for one show and then fall apart ever since? Did they bring in special writers?

I'm sorry, I am not a scam artist and have nothing to try to steal your money with like the above posts, so I wonder if I am allowed to post here at all.

The entire low talent cast of this lame show could walk, and it wouldn't register a blip on the Who Cares meter. SNL hasn't been funny in decades. The writers are even worse. What a snooze.

God, I think SNL is okay, Please tell me who ever made the decision, to hire Keenan Thomson, I think he's horrible. I'd watch Jenny any day of the week over Keenan.

Who Cares? SNL has been dull and boring for 35 years now. I haven't laughed at anything on it since then either. It's only funny to the under 25 crowd that haven't seen it all before.

I thought Lorne lost him mind years ago when he let Dave Koechner go. He was the funniest thing I'd seen since Belushi.

Except for Tina Fey, they haven't found a real star there in a long time. I miss the old days, Hartman, Belushi, Akroyd, to name a few. The newer cast just doesn't have it.

I used to watch SNL years ago when Chevy, and Dan was on. The show is dead now, they need to just bury it and be done. It had a good long run they need to end it now, otherwise people will start to remember it as bad.

I find it amusing how many people tell me that SNL is not funny anymore and then they proceed to say that they have not watched the show in over a decade. This current cast is one of the best, particularly Jason Sudekis and Keenan Thompson, and I have been watching the show since it started. The ONLY problem is that the women are invisible and Kristin Wiig is about as funny as your house burning down the day after you have a miscarriage and a diagnosis of cancer. She has NO talent at all.

What the hell are you guys talking about? the "not ready for prime time players" were hit and miss too. Go watch the first season. Its DEATH more than half of the time. SNL is good for 5 years, then it sucks for 5 years. Its how it goes. SNL I think is funniest for what cast you grew up on. So for me, its the Chris Farley and Phil Hartmen cast. SNL wont get cancelled, the only way that show goes off the air, is if Lorne leaves. Thats my guess
Thank God she is leaving. She was not funny at all and most of the times she was quiet annoying. When she first appeared I thought "she must have slept with someone to get on the show". By not trying to keep her from leaving I have a new found respect for the folks at SNL.

I guess I am in the minority. I still enjoy watching SNL. True, not all the skits are funny but I still get a kick out of some of them. I do miss Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and used to love when they did the Bronx Beat. I also think that Kristen Wiig does a good job. She plays lots of different characters well.
