Do Men Who Date Paris Hilton Seal Their Demise?

Since then, Hilton has been banned from the Wynn and Encore resorts on the strip. Meanwhile, the hotel and casino says Waits "separated from the company and is free to pursue other interests." The police report says he allegedly failed a field sobriety test when he and Hilton were stopped August 27.

It's a shame, really. Before he traveled down the dark road to Paris this summer, Waits, 34, was apparently doing quite well for himself. The young businessman had recently been promoted to co-chief of nightlife operations at Wynn and Encore. He and his twin brother Jesse together were managing partners of Tryst Nightclub inside the Wynn, as well as the Encore's XS Nightclub and Drai's. They'd both been named among "America's Most Eligible Bachelors" by 'Extra.'

Waits isn't the only one to see his life go up in flames after getting involved with the notorious socialite. Let's harken back to the days of Nick Carter.

The former Backstreet Boy seemed to be enjoying a successful pop music career until his 7-month-long brush with Hilton in 2004. But once the pair split, the claws came out. Just a little at first, with a "sad" Carter confessing that he "really loved that girl," but he had to get away because she was toxic. Their relationship, he said, was built on "distrust" (yes, that really is a word).

"She didn't trust me, I didn't trust her," the boy band star said. He also called her "immature" and said she "thrives off hurting other people."

That wasn't the last we heard from Carter. Hilton's camp later insinuated that he'd hit her -- paparazzi photos appeared of a bruised Paris, and she danced around whether her ex was to blame -- and he confessed to having cheated on the party girl with her rival Ashlee Simpson to get revenge.

"I got so burnt over that whole Paris sh--t with all this swinging and switching," he told PageSix. "Whatever happened to morals and values?"

There are no words.

Don't forget about Rick Salomon, Hilton's costar in her infamous sex tape. The grainy video, shot in 2001 before he married actress Shannen Doherty (and divorced her) or Pamela Anderson (and divorced her), was seen by just about the entire universe when it was leaked onto the Internet in 2003.

Salomon denied having anything to do with the tape's release -- as did Hilton, though it bolstered the ratings of her reality show 'The Simple Life.' But in 2004, the delightful Salomon distributed it himself through adult film company Red Light District Video, giving it the distasteful title '1 Night in Paris.'

Hilton was said to be "humiliated." And boy, did Salomon pay.

He found himself fending off an enormous "smear campaign" waged (he claimed) by the Hilton dynasty and watching his name being tarred by pretty much everyone else. He tried to fight back with a $10 million defamation lawsuit against the hotel owners, but as you might imagine, his plan failed miserably.

"Hilton, her family and at least one of her publicists have ... embarked on a cold, calculated and malicious campaign to portray Salomon as a rapist who took advantage of a sweet and innocent girl who had no idea what happened to her," the court papers said. "Defendants then cleverly hinted to the press that there might be an issue as to whether Hilton was underage."

Then there was Greek shipping heir No. 2, Stavros Niarchos (not to be confused with Greek shipping heir No. 1 Paris Latsis). It was Niarchos who reportedly tossed Paris out that time, after Kelly Osbourne's wild 21st birthday party at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel with Hilton and her peeps. The bash ended with a totally trashed room and a bill for $100,000 in damages.

"Stavros told Paris that things are out of control and he's through with the drama," a friend of his dished to Star. "He said to her, 'I need time to reflect. I should have been home today studying. Instead I am here paying $100,000 worth of bills.'"

Granted, a lot of Paris' boys weren't exactly squeaky clean and free of shadiness before they hooked up with the hard-partying star.

Salomon, the owner of an online gambling site with two daughters from his first marriage, seemed sleazy from the start with ties to the porn industry and a rep for seducing celebrities to get to the top. And Carter was no Prince Charming either. He battled drug and alcohol addiction for a decade and is rumored to be a narcissistic, name-dropping ... Well, let's hear what Paris herself said when she compared him to one of her next boyfriends, Latsis.

"Night and day. He's not using me for anything ... He's not a disgusting pig, sorry."

There you have it.

(Latsis, by the way, while devastated and heartbroken after Hilton called off their engagement in 2005, seems to be doing just fine now. He has since dated -- and broken up with -- 'Twilight' star Nikki Reed but hasn't fallen into the gutter or had his reputation decimated or seen his life crumble all around him. So there are exceptions.)

As for the men Medusa hasn't yet gazed upon who still salivate over Hilton's Barbie doll looks, high-wattage fame and dazzling fortune, a little word of caution. Think twice before acting on your fantasies. That is, unless you yearn for a slow, painful and very public demise.
