Lady Gaga Explains Why She's Been Wearing Meat

Following her triumph at the MTV VMAs, Lady Gaga sat down with Ellen DeGeneres and revealed the reasoning behind her latest clothing fabric of choice. Yes, we're talking about the meat and the now notorious meat dress. The positively squeamish DeGeneres, who is vegan, prefaced by saying, "I get most of your outfits," just not this one.

"It's certainly no disrespect to anyone that's vegan or vegetarian," Gaga told the host. "As you know I'm the most judgment-free human being on the Earth. It has many interpretations, but for me this evening it's [saying] if we don't stand up for what we believe in, if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones."

Aaaaaaaah.

She then dished up a second interpretation, saying it's meant to say that she's "not a piece of meat."

DeGeneres then offered an alternative to flesh by presenting Lady Gaga with a bikini and skirt made of vegetables.

Gaga wore the "meat dress," by Franc Fernandez, while accepting the award Video of the Year. Cher, another singer known for eccentric style, presented the trophy to her. The situation offered up one of the funniest lines of the night when Gaga told the audience, "I never thought I'd be asking Cher to hold my meat purse."

I agree, but I had to see her reasoning for the meat clothing...LAME! She absolutely IS a piece of meat for the media dogs, if she didn't dangle herself in front of our faces like this she wouldn't get attention. She certainly didn't get my attention for her "talent."

I think he/she's not all there in the head. Isn't she mildly retarded or something? I heard she spent a few months in a mental institution before Cyndi Lauper gave birth to her last year.

wow lady gaga is jus plan off the mark she has catchy songs i dont know if i would call that talent! Im a mom and I refuse to let my 4yr old watch anything w her in it not only is she foul but she is fake and her new cd being named this is how I am or something or other it def isnt how she is when she came out she was Hideous!!!!! now w all her plastic surgery and make up she is almost female looking!!! she jus isnt a role modle and someone should exsplain to her she isnt ugly anymore and doesnt need rediculous costomes to attract attention anymore!!!
