Oprah Gives Audience Trip to Australia in Last Season Premiere
Oprah Winfrey is known for her grand gestures -- especially on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' where she continues to give away fabulous gifts to her audience. And for the final season premiere of her syndicated talk show, she's gifting everyone in the audience with a trip to Australia.
"Because, after all, this really is my 25th season and this is really my last chance to do something really big," she explained,
The New York Daily News reports.
There will be two episodes of 'Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure,' which will feature O's biggest fans down under, in places like the Sydney Opera House. The trip will happen this coming December.
"It's one of the places I've always wanted to visit, and who better to take with me on this trip of a lifetime than some of my most loyal viewers. My team has been planning this trip for almost a year and we are so excited," Oprah said in a statement.
After airing, Oprah tweeted that she was pleased no one let the news leak. "
Audience -- it's unbelievable that you kept that secret all weekend!! Way to go mates," she wrote.
Meanwhile, she kicked off her first show with John Travolta, one of her favorite guests throughout the years. (Travolta showed up again at the end of the episode as the "pilot" of the plane to Australia.)
Don Johnson even made a special appearance. Oprah tried to get the formed 'Miami Vice' star on her first episode ever, even bribing him with rhinestone sunglasses to entice him to come. Unfortunately he couldn't make it then. But this time, he gave the glasses back to Winfrey.
Producers managed to finally surprise Oprah herself with a performance by Paul Simon, which brought her to tears.
Don't worry, Oprah isn't leaving your TV for good -- despite abandoning 'Oprah' after 25 years. In 2011, OWN -- The Oprah Winfrey Network will feature a different kind of talk show from the queen of daytime television.

With all her success, she could be doing wonderful things for the poor in this country, especially now in their time of need, She's always giving away frivolous things.

It is impossible to fall out of love. Love is such a powerful emotion, that once it envelops you it does not depart. True love is eternal. If you think that you were once in love, but fell out of it, then it wasn't love you were in. There are no 'exit' signs in love, there is only an 'on' ramp. Lots of my friends found their lovers through the service. You may have a try... ;)

HOW CAN YOU BE SO INSENSITVE? DON'T YOU HAVE ANY LIFE? WHAT SHE IS DOING IS SO VERY WONDERFUL. SURE WE WEREN'T THERE TO GET THAT GLORIOUS GIFT. LET HER ENJOY HER TRIP WITH ALL THOSE HAPPY PEOPLE. YOU PEOPLE WITH YOUR NEGATIVE ANGRY MEAN WORDS! THE COUNTRY WOULD BE ALOT BETTER WITHOUT ALL OF YOU IN IT! YOU GO GIRL, YOU GO! YOU'VE BEEN LIKE AN ANGEL EVERYTIME I'VE SEEN YOU ON TV.I KNOW ONE THING FOR SURE! THE WORLD'S A MUCH BETTER PLACE WITH YOU IN IT! YOU'VE BEEN A GREAT INFLUENCE TO SO MANY OF US. YOU COLOR DOESN'T MATTER OPERAH. ANYONE OF US WITH AN BRAINS KNOWS THAT. I CAN'T BELIEVE THE CRUEL THINGS I'VE BEEN READING. YOU GO OUT IN GLORY GIRL! YOUR ONE OF THE VERY BEST!! LOVE YOU, MARKY
With our economy in the tank, why not give a tour of the U.S. as a way to boost the tourist industry in America? She starts up a school in Africa, when she could just as easily opened a school here in the U.S. With our education system in the tank, Heaven knows we could have used a good one. So much for Liberalism

Ha I laugh at the people telling her what to do and how to spend her money. Maybe she was thinking about how to take her loyal fans some place they might never get a chance to go in their lives. And around the US is just a little to easy... Idk about you but a road trip is within my budget. Its really nice Oprah decided to do something like this for her audience. It shows her appreciation. Shes one of the most charitable celebrities out there. Instead of bashing her for how she spends her money how about forking over some of your own dough to some worthy charities.
shout up.
Last season huh, never seeen even one minute of her show lol

Well, YOU missed one of the best shows ever!
By the audiences reaction, I'm sure their husbands are equally excited their wives are leaving the country.
