Oprah Gives Audience Trip to Australia in Last Season Premiere
Oprah Winfrey is known for her grand gestures -- especially on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' where she continues to give away fabulous gifts to her audience. And for the final season premiere of her syndicated talk show, she's gifting everyone in the audience with a trip to Australia.
"Because, after all, this really is my 25th season and this is really my last chance to do something really big," she explained,
The New York Daily News reports.
There will be two episodes of 'Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure,' which will feature O's biggest fans down under, in places like the Sydney Opera House. The trip will happen this coming December.
"It's one of the places I've always wanted to visit, and who better to take with me on this trip of a lifetime than some of my most loyal viewers. My team has been planning this trip for almost a year and we are so excited," Oprah said in a statement.
After airing, Oprah tweeted that she was pleased no one let the news leak. "
Audience -- it's unbelievable that you kept that secret all weekend!! Way to go mates," she wrote.
Meanwhile, she kicked off her first show with John Travolta, one of her favorite guests throughout the years. (Travolta showed up again at the end of the episode as the "pilot" of the plane to Australia.)
Don Johnson even made a special appearance. Oprah tried to get the formed 'Miami Vice' star on her first episode ever, even bribing him with rhinestone sunglasses to entice him to come. Unfortunately he couldn't make it then. But this time, he gave the glasses back to Winfrey.
Producers managed to finally surprise Oprah herself with a performance by Paul Simon, which brought her to tears.
Don't worry, Oprah isn't leaving your TV for good -- despite abandoning 'Oprah' after 25 years. In 2011, OWN -- The Oprah Winfrey Network will feature a different kind of talk show from the queen of daytime television.

You all need to stop hating on Oprah. Anyone that talks trash about a woman who has done so much to make this world a better place is garbage.
What have you all contributed to society?
Oprah is an angel and she deserves to be worshipped.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Austrailia's economy is fine. Hello How about a trip to Hawaii and help the US economy! da
No human, no angel deserves worship only God alone.
Oprah is the most racist person I know. The only reason she gives stuff away, is so she can have a tax write off. She refused to have Sarah Palin on during the campaign, because she "Dosen't use her show for politics". That is a bigger lie then Obama is from the US>
I agree with you, Bianca. I'm not a Oprah worshipper or anything, but really. Everyone on here likes to dictate how she should spend her money and griping about the economy. I'm SURE that they'd of respectfully declined the offer, since it wasn't US-Economy friendly.
God can't even make the world a better place. How is Oprah going to make the world a better place?
Yes, she started a school in Africa to give back. A school for girls because after all its women who raise children and change societies. How have you changed society for the better?? She once said she tried to do things for the kids in Chicago but all they wanted was expensive sneakers, etc. You might not like her or her politics and yes most of it is tax deductible but the woman gives back and for that alone I like her.

AND SOME OF THE GIRLS WERE MOLESTED
The taxpayers are more than likely paying for this trip.

WHAT WILL ALL THOSE PEOPLE PAY FOR THE TRIP?
THEY GET TO PAY TAXES ON IT, NOT OPRAH!

I'm sure the people receiving the trip is intelligent enough to make the decision whether they can afford the taxes and if they can't they can always decline to accept. It is the responsibility of all winners of prizes to pay the taxes. Stop finding fault with everything. If you people don't like Oprah then why do you watch her show and read articles about her? Anyone I don't like I don't watch or read about. Have a blessed day.
Does Oprah pay for this trip for her guests or the producers of the show? I don't think it's fair to make it look like she is paying for the trip if she is not. The same thing with the cars she gave away and her favorite things. WHO actually paid for them???
I was not a regular observer of the show but I can say I did enjoy many of her shows. I am wondering why she doesn't go into something entirely different the next time around? You might think she'd want a big change at this point? How boring to do the same thing on a different set. It's not really a departure if that is the case. I think she should go into politics or maybe host a game show.

Last time I heard Oprah produced the show...is called Harpo Productions.....idiot
Since our economy is in such a FUNK, and OPRAH is such a good friend of OBAMA, why doesn't she take these people to some nice place in the USA??? Don't we have a place NICE ENOUGH????
