Will.i.am Covers the Doors, Dick Dale, Black Eyed Peas at TIFF Party

It may have been pouring rain outside, but under the rooftop tent at Global TV's annual 'Entertainment Tonight Canada' TIFF party, will.i.am was lighting a fire under the feet of the film festival elite with an unorthodox mix of MCing and DJing that felt more like a private karaoke session than a celebrity spin set.

While fellow musicians K'naan, Kardinal Offishall and Fefe Dobson -- who told PopEater that she was excited to reconnect with the Black Eyed Peas mastermind after a year absence -- watched, the media mogul took to the mic several times throughout his set.

He sang along with -- or rather, on top of -- such wide-ranging musical fare as Lips Inc.'s 'Funkytown,' Dick Dale's 'Misirlou' and several Black Eyed Peas numbers, with 'I've Got A Feeling' generating the biggest response from the sauced-up, open bar crowd.

Though there were many choices, the strangest cover of the night had to be the Doors' 'Light My Fire,' which the singer/producer sang with considerably more zeal, if slightly less nuance, than Jim Morrison's original version.

As the clock inched closer to the 2AM cut off and the heavens cleared up, the DJ refused to end his set, repeating several times that he'd like to continue despite organizer's requests to wrap it up. Eventually, however, will.i.am relented, the night ended, the bars closed and the star and his posse busted out to an after-hours party to keep the fire going.
