Who Was Trying to Undermine J. Lo's 'Idol' Deal?

Jennifer Lopez has officially signed on as the newest judge on 'American Idol,' and executives are convinced that negative stories are being deliberately planted about her in an effort to sabotage the diva before the show even begins. FOX insiders are insisting that the nasty leaks about Jennifer's diva behavior are all untrue and blaming shows in direct competition for all the bad buzz.

"This is a genius move by 'Idol's' public relations machine," an insider tells me. "They are taking all the attention of what a nightmare J.Lo is to work with and focusing attention on those other nasty shows. Now, everyone is guessing who is trying to ruin J.Lo rather than talking about the notoriously difficult diva."

So who is telling the truth? Is J.Lo a sweet girl-next-door who is easy to work with or is Jenny from the Block really as demanding as the rumors suggest?

"Of all the people I have ever worked with, no one was more difficult than Jennifer," a magazine editor tells me. "When we shot her for a cover, her list of demands were crazy. She needed an all white room scented with Jo Malone candles. She insisted on having a banquet of food -- that she never touched -- and even had the nerve to ask for a specific type of private plane."

Another source who has worked with Lopez tells me, "If Jennifer was known for her endless charity work before negotiating with 'Idol' and then suddenly diva like stories suddenly appeared, I would agree with FOX executives. However, everyone in show business knows Jennifer is more difficult to deal with than Barbra Streisand on a bad day. Pretending your competition is leaking negative stories about J.Lo is laughable. Next, they will be saying 'America's Got Talent' is leaking stories that Ryan Seacrest is short."

As someone who has worked for Jennifer myself, I can confirm that she is tricky, however, a gentleman would never kiss and tell. Wink.

The show is a loss since Paula left then Simon and they put Ellen on as a judge (pure stupidity) now J LO, it used to be a good show now it will go downhill fast.

American Idol is a farce and always has been. How could you go to major cities around the country and have some of the worst people on the show that they could find. If it was about talent you'd see only the best. So J LO being on the show as a judge of someone's singing talent is, well just another indication that Idol is done with simon being gone. It's over. There will be no truth on the panel.

I don't understand why anyone even cares what her race is? I also agree with the one who gives a crap, you don't have to watch it if you don't like the show. As for her talent, you shouldn't be judging. Judging people is frowned upon, and obviously she has more talent than any of us, who even responds to this crap. So look in the mirror before critizing someone who works hard to get their success.

Jlo is awesome, she is beautiful! she is a great dancer, and has an awesome figure! Most of the world agrees, that is why she is so popular. It's so sad that you all are so racist and so unhappy with your own lives.

The last time I saw J Lo perform was when she hosted Saturday Night Live.
She was embarrasing....absolutely terrible dancing and worse singing.
I'm afraid she is longer capable of being a talent judge.

I've read articles before about her being a diva so I believe it's true. I read about the white room with white candles thing in a previous article, too. Even though her acting skills will never earn her an OSCAR I would say she is a better actress than a singer. I also don't see her as the kind of performer who relates well with her audience - more like she thinks she is above it - so I don't see where she fits in on a show like Idol.

yeah, jennifer's singing ability is a big problem for her judging, as SIMON COWELL and RANDY JACKSON BOTH have headlined at the MET or CARNEGIE HALL, or whatever, sheesh. SERIOUSLY, some of the BEST judges and critics CAN'T do the thing they rate for a living, that is why they should try to find ANOTHER Simon Cowell or Piers Morgan type, not necessarily a BRIT, but we DO care what they think as we see them as smarter and better educated and most of all, we LOVE their accents. I KNOW! Don't you guys miss that 'WEAKEST LINK' lady? I miss that show, so SHE COULD JUDGE. Or someone like her.
I agree they should have paid Paula to stay, but now they should dump RANDY JACKSON and start with 3 newbies, say J. LO is the PAULA, then they need a Simon alike and a Randy alike and they are good to go. I do think the show has run out of steam, so maybe they should just trash everything and start afresh. I think they should go back to 25 and younger too.

After last year I am thru with Idol I could care less who they had as judges They should have had the good sense to fold when Paula and Simon left.
