Bravo Comes Out Swinging at Michaele and Tareq Salahi Over 'Iron-Clad' Claim

Not much isn't known about Michaele and Tareq Salahi's uninvited visit to a White House state dinner last year -- heck, they've talked about it on the 'Today' show. But a new book about the scandal claims the 'Real Housewives of DC' stars haven't discussed the incident, and directly blames so-called "iron-clad" contracts with the show's network, Bravo, for their supposed discretion.

Not surprisingly, Bravo isn't pleased with the claim, found in the book 'Cirque du Salahi: Be Careful Who You Trust,' and have shot back saying that any notion that their 'Housewives'-related contracts bar them from talking about the incident as "simply not true."

"From the time of the incident until now, Bravo and Half Yard Productions, the producer of the series, have consistently and repeatedly stated to the Salahis and their representatives that they were free to speak to press, law enforcement, Congress and anyone else about attending the State Dinner. Indeed, they have given multiple press interviews on that very subject."

In January, Tareq Salahi appeared before Congress at a hearing for the House Homeland Security Committee. When asked to discuss how he and his wife went to the dinner he repeated several times, "On the advice of counsel, I respectfully assert my right to remain silent and decline to answer your question."

In 'Cirque du Salahi: Be Careful Who You Trust,' author Diane Dimond gives this explanation for why the Salahis clammed up in Congress.

"On attorney's advice, and because of their 'iron-clad' contracts with Bravo, the Salahis felt they could not defend themselves -- not even when called before a committee of the United States Congress. Only now, that the danger of a possible federal indictment has faded with time, do they feel they can tell their side of the story."

The Salahis famously slipped through security at a White House dinner for the prime minister of India, even shaking hands with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. They told "their side of the story" shortly after the incident, to Matt Lauer in fact, in a 'Today' show interview on Dec. 1.

"We were invited, not crashers," Michaele said. "There isn't anyone that would have the audacity or the poor behavior to do that ... certainly not us."

Aside from the White House crashing, 'Cirque du Salahi' also breaks the news that Michaele has been suffering from multiple sclerosis for seven years.

These two remind me of Spencer and Heidi... Famous for being idiots who just so happened to get in front of a camera at the right time. They're just wannabe's who snuck in to the White House, Their 15 minutes should be up by now.

I don't care if they snuck into the President's bedroom. What really bothers me is they're part of a reality show. I consider shows like theirs a huge waste of TV air time. There are a few very rare exceptions, but this is not one of them.

Wonder if she REALLY has MS?? Does she have any proof??? It's one of the hardest diseases to diagnose and many people live years thinking they have it when it's really something else. Am wondering since she is the "low woman on the totem pole" as far as people getting along with her on the show ... if maybe she needed a "pity party"??? Hopefully she would not stoop that low ... but ........

i was thinking the exact same thing, mis-diagnosed. i am built like her and i have fetal alcohol syndrome-fas-or rather-eas-effects of fetal alcohol syndrome. which means i am not physically dis-abled and i have an iq over 70 which is the avg for regular fas. would someone like her with fas/eas lie and say she has ms? i think so

Oh, I absolutely do NOT believe she has MS. She has lied about everything else, and is just trying to sell a book. Would somebody please tell these two (and the media) that their 15 minutes of shame is over - and they are only still around because everyone enjoys mocking them?

so now she has had MS for seven years now...hmmmm, she sure didn't look like it dancing in Paris, riding her horse, "stomping grapes," wearing high heels, you get my point! why aren't these people sitting in a prison cell, & why haven't they had to offer their apologies to the Secret Service!! As I have to say is that they are Professional Criminals and actually believe the lies that they tell. All that I hope is that somehow between all the public speaking programs, to Bravo and then to her tell "ALL" book. That they self incriminate themselves and then justice will be served..Lies have a way of spreading like cancer and then it takes over and you have nothing left...in their case DEBT !
