Casey Affleck Makes Sex Harassment Claims Disappear

Actor-turned-director Casey Affleck has settled the sexual harassment lawsuits filed against him by a pair of women who worked on 'I'm Still Here,' the documentary he directed about his brother-in-law, actor Joaquin Phoenix.

Amanda White, a producer, and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka raised separate charges in July that Affleck was verbally abusive and made uninvited sexual advances during production of the controversial film. Gorka alleged Affleck had groped her while she was sleeping.

White was suing Affleck for $2 million, and Gorka was seeking $2.25 million.

Both women will receive credit on the film, but neither side has commented on the financial terms of the agreement. In a statement, Affleck's legal team said the women's claims "have been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties and the lawsuits are being dismissed."

White and Gorka made their allegations in the span of a week in July.

White claimed Affleck referred to women as "cows" and "discussed his sexual exploits and those of other celebrities." She also alleged Affleck attempted to get her to spend the night with him in his hotel room while they were in San Francisco. After she said no, he "became hostile and aggressive" and "violently grabbed her arm in an effort to intimidate her into staying."

Gorka claimed she "was berated and verbally attacked by Affleck after she refused his sexual advances in New York, and was criticized constantly for refusing to be submissive in response to his rants and derisive comments."

After she left the project, Affleck refused to pay her their verbally-agreed-upon fee. She also said she'd been stripped of the Director of Photography credit on the film.

Affleck is married to Joaquin Phoenix's sister, Summer, with whom he has two children.
