Michael Jackson's Mother, Children Suing AEG Over Singer's Death

Michael Jackson's mother and children are suing concert promoter AEG Live over the singer's death, TMZ reports.

Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, claims AEG breached its agreement to provide physical care and life-saving equipment for her son. She also alleges the company was negligent in hiring Dr. Conrad Murray as Jackson's physician. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The lawsuit alleges Jackson was shivering and disoriented at his last rehearsal, PEOPLE reports. "AEG had legal duties to Michael Jackson to treat him safely and to not put him in harm's way. But AEG, despite its knowledge of Michael Jackson's physical condition, breached those duties by putting its desire for massive profits from the tour over the health and safety of Michael Jackson," says the lawsuit.

The suit also points the finger at AEG for hiring Dr. Murray without a full background check, claiming, "AEG did not provide a doctor who was truly looking out for Jackson's well-being and did not provide equipment." Mr. Murray has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death.

In addition, the lawsuit includes a section about AEG causing emotional stress to Jackson's son, Prince, who saw his father suffering and dying: "he was put in a position as bystander to these tragic events".

CBS News reports an AEG spokesperson said the company hasn't seen the suit and had no comment. The company has previously said Jackson died before signing an overall agreement with AEG--thus making the terms non-binding.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

The family has all the rigts in the world to sue, and the should sue you, but, all the would get is 10 children and lots of bills and back rent payment owned to the landlord! Michaels mother has a point ppl this is her son how could AEG not check out the doctor they hired to treat her son . Any mother would be fighting for answers just like Michaels mother if it was their child dead and their grandchildren in pain !

The family is fighting for ANSWERS?!! The questions "Why did Michael Jackson need a full time doctor in his life" "why did Michael Jackson need IV sedatives to go to sleep? should have given them the answer. These people have had the answer to their son's problems for years. Their whole focus in life is money.

FYI, they did try to get to Michael but the guards wouldn't even let the family in to see Michael. Or do you only belive the evil media machine that get paid to lie for the ratings. That's all they're goal is no matter who is hurts. Reporting honestly would break the businesses into bankrupt and they can't have that now can they? These days it's about the lies they can get the public to believe. Get a freaking clue.

Had Michael been YOUR son, or Prince your grandson, you'd do same. AEG's SOLE aim was money. Expected 50 concerts, with no regard for Icon's well being. Probably gained even more with death. DOGS! For the dolts who think FBI didn't investigate allegations, keep calling King a pedophile. Means nothing. Intelligent people know those accusations lacked merit. Precisely why Evan Chandler is where he is today. NOT spending coerced millions. There will never be another Michael Jackson. GREATEST EVER. Pray family gets millions on top of millions they already have. Love them.

Michael Jackson has no one to blame but himself for his own death. He took all those drugs knowing full well the risk. He had even said he was afraid he was going to end up like Elvis Presley. Well, he did, the idiot!

Doesn't anyone else think it is odd that the family allowed the lawyers in this suit to legally name his son only as a "bystander."

Susan- Ridiculous. Michael died as a result of quack's negligence. Few acknowledge. Also seem to lack understanding of addiction. Family attempted help. Greatest ever. Yet STILL human. If law concurs homicide, opinions are moot. Why must money always be primary? King is loved. Missed. Family has right to seek justice. More money than can be spent in a lifetime. Silly, and illogical to believe sole issue. In lieu of tragedy, only Iconic light SHOULD shine. Like any other great. If your loved one, or fan, no doubt would desire same. Would then likewise appear as "publicist". So get real.

first off thier concert promoters, second if the freak did not like the doctor he could have asked for another doctor. third who provides care giving equipment to health 50 years ,last but not least is the family publicly acknowledging that the freak had issues & they did nothing .

No body is putting the real blame were it belongs and that is with Micheal Jackson himself, nobody force him to take the drugs he did it because he wanted too, needed to feel the high, if he needed the drugs to get by then he should never have signed on to do the tour because then he was not well. He was a grown man and he was in charge for his own life.

I think it's about a mother being sad about outliving one of her children. She loves her son and want's to "do something" about his untimely death.

Unfortunately, Mike put himself in harm's way. There's really no one else to blame.

Have they no shame? When is enough, enough? Since when do stars have to be provided with emergency medical when they perform? This family is unbelievable.
