Michaele Salahi Reveals She Has Multiple Sclerosis

White House party crasher and 'Real Housewives in D.C.' star Michaele Salahi has revealed in a new book that she has multiple sclerosis.

Salahi was diagnosed with the nervous system disorder seven years ago. The reality star appeared on a FOX News morning show on Wednesday and explained why she kept the illness a secret for so long.

"This is the first time I've said it publicly ... It's something I kept personal," Salahi said. "I think a lot of people do with chronic illnesses or any type of disease, whether it's heart [disease] or whatever you deal with, you know, breast cancer, so for me, I kept it personal because I never wanted to be judged, never wanted to have pity, and I certainly wanted to hold on to my job."

Salahi deals with the disease by going on with life as if nothing is different and keeping a positive mind-set.

"The only way I can deal with it is to smile and act like I can get through it," she told PEOPLE in another interview.

The new book, titled 'Cirque du Salahi,' was written by Diane Dimond.

Too bad it hasn't flared up enough to keep her out of the limelight

I hate to say it, but I will not believe this diagnosis until it is proven somehow. I would not put it past her to fake MS in hopes that public sympathy will make her more popular. The limelight is all she seems to care about.

Kelly you couldn't've said it better. Don't know what to believe with that woman. She lies about just about every other aspect of her life and her past including the modeling gig (not) Redskin cheerleader gig (not) the whole vineyard thing (not) the gate crashing thing. Why would we believe this is something other than a ploy to soften her avaracious money grubbing image?

Anyone who knows the disease can look at her and tell if she has it. An expert can observe her on TV and tell whether she has it.
It would be hard to pull off that lie and appear in public.

I bet she thinks this song is about her, you're so vain. She "pretends" a lot which makes her unlikeable. Her hubby, although a cutie, is hard to stomach sometimes. Their personalities............are left to be desired. Not all that shines is GOLD.

I have MS. If this is just a ploy to get sympathy now that they are both in trouble legally, financially and morally so people will go more easy on her, I think it's sick! MS saps almost all of your energy. She is always bragging about how much energy she has and seems to be bouncing off the walls with it in every episode. Is MS one of her charities? You would think that it would be on the top of her list. Unless we see the results of all of her spinal taps, MRI's and other painful tests, no I do not believe her. It's like the old nursery tale of the boy who cried wolf. No one will ever believe her because she has never told the truth about anything. Her husband the puppet master probably told her to claim it since it is so hard to diagnose. If it's true I apologize but if it's a lie, shame on you and your con artist husband too!

You are so right. My daughter was diagnosed with Sensory MS a few years ago after fourteen hours in the Hosptial, being poked, prodded and MRI'd to death! There are mornings when she is so dizzy she can't get out of bed and her energy level has definitely taken a hit. She has not had another flair up and refused Interferon. I can only hope you are doing well. Ms Salahi may or may not have this disease...hard to tell since some forms of it have no obvious outward signs.
