'40-Year-Old Virgin' Actor Shelley Malil Found Guilty of Attempted Murder

Shelley Malil, the actor best known for playing an electronics store clerk in 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin,' was found guilty Thursday of attempted premeditated murder of his ex-girlfriend, Kendra Beebe, the
Associated Press reports. The actor faces up 21 years to life in prison for the knife attack.
Malil was also found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon. He was acquitted of residential burglary. The actor pleaded not guilty to all the charges, claiming he thought Beebe was somebody else getting ready to attack him.
Beebe was stabbed at her San Diego County home in August 2008 after Malil found her socializing with another man, David Maldonado. Malil reported he felt threatened and believed Maldonado was going to kill him. He recalls getting "hit from the back on the side of the head. It felt like cold granite countertop."
"I don't know what it was, but someone was hitting me with something and all I had was this knife and I just went bananas with the thing," Malil said. He started slashing out in defense not realizing he was actually
stabbing Beebe. She was stabbed more than 20 times.
Defense attorney Matthew Roberts told jurors in his closing arguments that while there was no denying Malil went too far with the knife, he never intended to kill Beebe.
San Diego Country jurors began their deliberations on Wednesday after a three-week trial.

Will wonders never cease?
Like I said earlier last week, I didn't think that the jury
was going to buy into the defendant,Shelley Mallil's account.
You can't just walk into a woman's house and turn around and
claim that some one from behind is going to harm you in some
way.

Yep, it was an accident. She fell on the knife about 20 times. He didn't do it....
Hey there Sherlock! Beebe is spelled ending in only one e. Just how many cases do you cover and can't seem to spell the victim's name right. You are not the brightest lightbulb in the room clearly.
Kathy..I know one thing that's happening to our country. The people in it don't know how to spell.
It's spelled K N O W I N G, not N O I N G! Please learn how to spell the English language.
Believe, Conclusions, Knowing, You're, Supposed, Until, Happened, Opinions, Article, Probably, Spelled, Too.
People have gotten so ignorant they can't even write a sentence. That's what has happened to our country. Damn shame too!
Um, he went to her house -- they've had "history" and he says he thought she was someone else -- OMG -- what an idiot -- he should do time for such a dumb story. Accident -- I don't think so!
Besides your spelling, you also mixed your tenses in the first sentence. Kathy, unless you sat in on the jury, you can't possibly know he is innocent, but if you do believe it, I have a bridge in New York you might be interested in purchasing from me.
Kathy,
What happened to our country? It is called Due Process of Law. He had his day in court and was found guilty.
You certainly have a warped view of things
Kathy, you seriously think that stabbing someone 23 times is an accident? Don't you think that she would have screamed in pain after the first stab, and he would have known whom it was he was stabbing? Not to mention the fact that he would have had to been facing her to inflict these wounds.
What are you shouting about?
That's why he was found guilty by a jury who heard the case in it's entirety. A jury of his peers that heard everything that you and I didn't. You're right...innocent until proven guilty. Today he was proven guilty.
