Nightmare Paternity Fight for Horror Director

The 'Amityville Horror' director known for blood, gore and shrill screaming is stuck in a paternity fight nightmare, claiming in court that his ex-wife lied to him for 17 years about being the father of their daughter. The
New York Post reports British director Andrew Douglas is suing ex-wife Ameena Meer for $671,991 for damages after she allegedly misled him about being a father, and making him pay child support since their 1999 divorce.
Douglas took a paternity test last year that deduced 'the probability of paternity is zero percent' before filing the lawsuit, according to court papers.
Meer denies lying at all. "Of course I didn't lie," Meer said.
In an interesting twist, Meer is the head of Muslims of Peace, an organization that collects donations for the controversial mosque near Ground Zero.
According to the suit, Douglas and Meer met in London in 1989 and occasionally had sexual encounters, but it was in 1992, when Meer told him 'she was pregnant with his child and asked him to marry her.'
The report also says Meer didn't want to have the baby without getting married in order to please her parents.
Douglas agreed, and they got married on Aug. 18, 1992 and Meer gave birth on Feb. 7, 1993.
Douglas' suit also says the biological father is another Brit, who previously rejected Meer after she proposed marriage, which made her resort to lying to Douglas about the baby.
Douglas claims to want to continue to support the now-teenage girl, and loves her, but wants Meer to pay for her devastating lie.

Well - the marriage was based on a lie. However he should have gotten the paternity test right after the baby was born and been done with it much earlier. I agree the woman should pay back some of the money to the guy - however he is the only father this girl knows. I'm sure he'll do right by the child but the mother doesn't deserve anything.

It is impossible to fall out of love. Love is such a powerful emotion, that once it envelops you it does not depart. True love is eternal. If you think that you were once in love, but fell out of it, then it wasn't love you were in. There are no 'exit' signs in love, there is only an 'on' ramp.

Good luck. My son found out about his here in Minnesota within the 3 year limit and after a 6 year battle in court received a court order for the money he could prove to be returned. However, the mother filed Chapter 7 in bankruptcy and now that battle is going on as to if money returned is really "child support" or something else because it does not go for nor is intended for the child. Have fun.

He is making the child pay for her mother's lie. Love her? No, he cares for his hurt ego more than anyone. Sad. Birds of a feather - marry! Deal with it. Don't linger in the press. Move on!

Having been the father of this child for 17 years, its astonishing that Mr. Douglas has not developed the parental sensibility of knowing how such a public suit can be devastating to the teenager. If he has a score to settle with his ex-wife, he could at least think a little about how this will impact the young woman he considered his daughter for 17 years. Its rather shameful that he allowed it to be such public spectacle.
