Jon Stewart Announces DC 'Rally to Restore Sanity'

'Daily Show' host Jon Stewart announced Thursday that he'll lead a rally on Washington that aims to encourage angry citizens on both sides of the aisle to take it down a notch, or in his words, "stop shouting, throwing and drawing Hitler mustaches on people other than Hitler."

The event has been dubbed the "Rally to Restore Sanity" and will be held on the National Mall on Oct. 30. "It's real," he told his maybe-thinking-he-was-joking audience. "We are gonna do this." Watch Stewart's big announcement:

In a video setting up his case that both political parties have gone overboard, Stewart mixed in pundits like "Birther Queen" Orly Taitz and the "Ragin' Cajun" James Carville. There were images from anti-war rallies and the recent rash of Tea Party events as well. He said the purpose of the rally will be to give the 80 percent of the country who usually "have s**t to do" a chance to rally ... but for sanity, not rage.

In contrast with Glenn Beck's recent religious-y rally on Washington, where signs were openly discouraged, the Comedy Central funnyman urges marchers to go to town. He suggested a couple ideas, including "I Disagree With You, But I'm Pretty Sure You're Not Hitler," and "Take It Down a Notch, America."

The rally, which he also dubbed the "Million Moderate March," will lean heavy on comedy, of course. Stewart's "rival," Stephen Colbert, bum-rushed the show to announce that he too would hold his own rally nearby for "all freedom-loving patriots" to challenge the "dark, optimistic forces" of Stewart and the 'Daily Show.'

He later said on the 'Colbert Report' that in order to "fight Jon Stewart's creeping reasonableness" and "restore truthiness" he will lead the "March to Keep Fear Alive" in the same exact spot on the same day as his Comedy Central colleague.

In a statement, Comedy Central promised a face-off between Stewart and Colbert that will be "bigger than Nixon/Kennedy, Ali/Foreman, Aniston/Jolie, 50/Nas, Joe/the Volcano, Alien/Predator, Bunny/Fudd and Ecks/Sever combined."

LOOK OUT !!!, the Libs want to rally. Like all Lefty Demonstrations, the City of DC will spend millions on full police force, FBI, cops wearing bullet proof vests on horseback, tear gas. The Libs can't help themselves. They have to riot, break store fronts, loot and any other destuction that involves bringing attention to themselves. The left has no agenda to run on so this is all they know how to do.

I really don't think that Jon hates Glen. Actually, Glen is highly amusing, especially when he tells his viewers: "We don't want the Government telling us what to do! We don't want anyone telling us what to do! Now, I'll tell you what to do."

Jon just shows the clip and laughs along with the rest of us. Glenn isn't hated. On the contrary, he's a laugh a minute.
