Paris Hilton Strikes a Deal in Vegas, Avoids Felony Cocaine Charge

A new report from
TMZ says that
Paris Hilton will not be facing a trial or jail time after her Aug. 27 arrest for felony cocaine possession, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Hilton will instead enter a guilty plea on Monday for two misdemeanors: obstructing an officer -- because she allegedly lied to police on the scene by denying the Chanel purse containing cocaine was hers -- and misdemeanor drug possession.
She will reportedly be placed on probation for a year, however (and will be required to serve jail time if arrested at any time during her probation). So...a year of probation, that's it? Well, not quite.
The socialite will be ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and complete 200 hours of community service. And a mandatory substance-abuse program is also part of the plea deal, according to the
paper.
"We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future," said Clark County D.A. David Roger. "If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center."
Hilton was taken into custody last month after riding in her boyfriend Cy Waits' Cadillac Escalade, which was pulled over when Las Vegas cops suspected marijuana was wafting from the vehicle. A substance in her handbag was tested and confirmed to be cocaine. Waits (a power player on the Sin City nightclub scene, fired by hotel mogul Steve Wynn after the scandal made news) has a Nov. 29 court date for his misdemeanor DUI charge.
Earlier this month, Hilton and Waits were
spotted in Hawaii, taking a beachside break from their legal woes.

A couple of eight balls is "Intent to deliver" weight for the great unwashed. Normal folk do serious time for this.
she "cut" a deal? and a BIG check, I'm sure.
You must know that low life poor people strike deals everyday.
I know many people who had more than Paris when caught and did not serve a day. Do some criminal searches on your neighbors and friends or maybe your relatives and you will see I know what I am writing is true.
confirming once again the rich and famous live by another set of rules...do as they say, not as they do...

I do not believe it once again the rich get away with it. If it was someone else not famous that was in trouble with the law they would have not been able to cut a plea and would have served jail time. She is admiting it was her purse then what was in her purse was hers also. Do you honeslty think giving her a plea deal is going to stop this behavior of hers. I would say to all parents if you kids get caught with drugs then they should get the same deal as her. The law is the law it should apply to everyone is the United States.

amen!
I'm sick & tired of hearing the saga of Paris Hilton & her problems. There's an old saying IF YOU DO THE CRIME YOU SHOULD DO THE TIME!!! That's what needs to happen to Paris. Put her in jail for the full amount of time her sentence is for don't keep letting her out because Daddy can bail her out. LET HER LEARN TO LIVE LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD & TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER ACTIONS.

She could help Vegas' 'bottom' line by doing a spanking stint at the Chicken Ranch.
