Jennifer Lopez's Ex, Ojani Noa, Wants to Audition for 'American Idol'?

The ink isn't even dry on
Jennifer Lopez's new $12 million contract to join 'American Idol' and her first husband, former waiter Ojani Noa, already has plans to crash the party -- this week, in fact.
Noa's manager, Ed Meyer, told
E! that the aspiring singer "will be in line at the Forum [in Los Angeles] on Sept. 22 to try out for 'American Idol'
in front of his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez."
Meyer adds, "He escaped Cuba and married Jennifer Lopez, now he wants to be the American Idol....Of course, he will sing a Jennifer Lopez song."
Sept. 22, don't forget, also happens to be the day Fox has invited media to a major press conference, where Ryan Seacrest will officially introduce the new buzzed-about judging panel. Just why is Ojani Noa -- who wed J.Lo in 1997 before the pair split months later -- trying to steal his famous ex-wife's thunder during one of her most high-profile career milestones?
Clearly, the couple's post-divorce history has fed into Noa's latest scheme.
(Not that his stunt will go very far, as 'Idol' fans know that contestants in each city must pass a preliminary tryout for production team members before they can sing in person for judges -- and at age 36, Noa is technically ineligible to begin with, as 'Idol' rules require all auditionees to be 15-28 years old).
If you're wondering whether Lopez, now married to Marc Anthony and the mother of toddler twins, will have a sense of humor about entertaining her old flame's latest grab for fame, fat chance. Since last year, the former spouses have been sparring in court over Noa's attempt to profit from private footage allegedly taped during their honeymoon -- which may or may not contain nudity (the judge in the case has blocked Noa from releasing the video "anywhere, anytime").
Noa has denied trying to peddle a sex tape of his ex, but he's also attempted to write a tell-all book about their relationship, which Lopez blocked in court. The couple were on friendly terms for a spell after they broke up: several years ago, the singer-actress became a restauranteur and hired Noa to manage her Pasadena eatery, Madras, in 2007 -- but he was ultimately fired.
Sounds like too much idle time on this would-be Idol's hands.

Why would they even let Noa waste their time with an audition if he is 36 and well beyond the age limit? Sounds like a lame publicity stunt in the making to me.

Why doesn't this man get a job and a life? He continues to try and demand financial help that he does not deserve. So he was married to her a long time ago, does that entitle him to mooch off her forever. I hope AI has the sense not to allow him to audition and obviously interfere with what will be a great show!oh great article ,My boyfriend and i both think so ...He is almost 11year older than me .i met him via kissmilita ry.c' o'ma nice place for s'ee'king Army, Navy, Mari'nes, Air Force, Police Force and their admires.just love it
Not the first time they have had an over-age person on Idol. Remember the "Pants on the Ground" guy? Lots of others too.
The man is pathetic.
Well, I'd rather hear him sing over J lo any day. This show is garbage, especially with this annoying cow as a judge. She can't sing, dance or act, but since when do you need real talent to be famous in America?

Frank you MAY BE RIGHT.......... sound like you have experience picking the "light in the loafer types" out bud. Would that be from your stops by the book store on the way home to the little Ms.?
It's absolutely a clash and a downer for the TV show, beyond that-the mope(s) are putting JL in an awkward position on T.V.-
It's too bad when some people just don't care and have no respect towards entertainers...This is not entertainment, it's a slap in the face...People are not stupid, it's a disgrace to mankind. It'a a big turn-off.

The really tragedy was when ...Ellen D was there ..."That was not entertainment, it was a slap in the face...People are not stupid, it's a disgrace to mankind. It was a big turn-off. The really tragedy was when ...Ellen D was there ...it was a slap in the face, people are not stupid... it was and is a disgrace to mankind . I love J.L. Congratulations !!!
Uh, anyone smell a publicity stunt to draw in viewers just so we can see J-Lo's reaction? Pathetic. The producers know the show is tanking and will do anything to keep people interested. The addition of Lopez was a poor move. Just my opinion. This season, regardless of the lack of a judge anyone cares about, is going to suck, and probably will be the last. Funny how EVERY season (including last which was the worst) starts out by saying this year has the best talent we've ever seen... HA! Goodbye American Idol. Hope the waste of 12 million on J-Lo for your last season was worth it.

I agree with you! She has obviously moved on, he needs to be a man and move on too, instead of trying to cash in on his short marriage to JLo that was years and years, 2 husbands and 1 engagement ago! What a loser!
This show has jumped the shark.... Simon was correct in leaving

Who cares....Lopez (boring has been) probably arranged it anyway....and her good looking ex is better off without her. He's 10 times better looking than that skeleton Lopez is married to. I know he's doing it for a career move, but why would he subject himself to her antics....
