Crabby Discovery Channel Sues 'Deadliest Catch' Bros

After 'Deadliest Catch' stars Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand bailed on their spin-off special, the Discovery Channel showed their claws by slapping them with a lawsuit.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Discovery is suing the Hillstrand brothers for $3 million in damages after they quit a 'Deadliest Catch' one-time special, titled 'Hillstranded,' two weeks into production.

The complaint states: "The Hillstrand Defendants determined that they would reverse course, dishonor their promises, and refuse to render the services necessary to complete 'Hillstranded.'"

Two weeks of principal photography were completed for the special, but the brothers bailed on the interviews required to complete the project. After the Hillstrand brothers were contacted to confirm location details for the interviews, the producers received only an e-mail from their lawyer indicating that Discovery should stop trying to contact them.

Discovery argues that the special could have produced "significant ratings," therefore, the Hillstrand brothers caused the network to lose potential revenue.

Neither Jonathan nor Andy Hillstrand have commented publicly on the suit.

A totally AWOL and very punk decision on the part of Discovery. They deserve to have their clocks fully cleaned, no matter how IT gets done. Nothing more, nothing less, than too big to fail corporate bullying. Nasty.

Of all the Captains go on the show both these guys seem they would be the hardest to work with. I'm a fisherman and would not want to work with either of them.
Great show , shows them at their Best and at their Worst.

That's really sad. These two are beloved by all of the Deadliest Catch fans, so Discovery is potentially alienating millions of viewers by taking action like this. :(

As per usual, we don't know the full details on why they bailed. If they had a good reason, fine. But it does sound to me like they were just fed up with this lifestlye and had enough of people telling them what to do and when to do it.

Let's be honest though - they wouldn't be so "famous" if it weren't for the Discovery Channel - so, don't bite the hand that feeds you so to speak.

Maybe they bailed ,because when theu are on their boat yelling screaming at the crew,they arev in their element, however when faced with a one on one interview, we will all see how really ignorant they are.

I agree 100% If you watch one or two of these shows ,you have seen them all BORING go out and let everyone see how stupid we are and almost die, and then we will go back tomorrow and the day after that and show the same thing ! About being sued? If they have a signed contract, so be it . Honor it or give back the money !! Man Up
