Aretha Franklin's Son Severely Beaten in Detroit‎

Eddie Franklin, the son of music legend Aretha Franklin, is undergoing surgery after being severely beaten Monday night at a gas station in Detroit, a spokeswoman for the Queen of Soul told the AP.

The statement says three people may have been involved in the beating but didn't have any additional information beyond the statement.

According to ABC 7 in Detroit, a witness says three suspects, two males and one female may have been responsible for the attack. The witness describes one of the males to be about six feet tall, with dreadlocks and dark skin complexion. The young woman was described as about 19 years old, with short hair.

Detroit Police said they were looking into the matter but had no other information.

Franklin is one of the most honored musicians in American history, having won numerous Grammys; the National Medal of Arts; the Presidential Medal of Freedom and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Some people are so cruel, I hope who ever did this is caught, soon. Its pathetic for three people, to beat on one person.
These kinds of people only beat on others in packs, like animals. If it was one on one,, I am sure the losers would have ran like little girls.

I am not a fan of Aretha Franklin. I have not been since she totally ruined that Simon & Garfunkel song at the Grammys in the early 70s. Strill, there should be any reason for a gang beating her son. If it was a 1 on 1 fight, that's okay. At least he'd have had a chance to defend himself.

Our govt,the economic mess,the violence in this country,is only secondary to the seemingly natural instinct in American citizens themselves to rob and hurt each other.
Peace and love is the answer,and we arent going to get there with the thug lifestyle,the banker lifestyle,the lifestyle of hollywood movies,even cartoons pumping violence into children and adults alike 24/7.We arent going to get there e mailing each other when people dont even interact with anyone anymore,not often on personal levels increasing the proficiency of social relationships.We arent going to get there doing drugs and drinking,by legalizing drugs.
God,family,hardwork,friendships-I havent even listened to Aretha much,but she is happy what she is doing,can belt one out and seems like a nice woman.It is sad to see such an icon isnt even able to stay away from the violenece that touches us all on the streets,pray for her and her family-

I wuz sorry to hear about Ms Franklins so being beat up and praying that he have a speedy recovery, as for is mom I think she is one of the most soulful singers there is today and yesterday. But I would love to see her drop a few pounds because when she made Betty Davis eyes the song she was georous.
