Katy Perry and Elmo's Chesty Duet Pulled From 'Sesame Street'

Katy Perry's chesty duet with Elmo won't make it on the air. The segment has been yanked from the TV broadcast of 'Sesame Street' due to feedback from viewers on YouTube. TMZ claims that some viewers were less than tickled by the amount of cleavage the singer showed during her performance of 'Hot N Cold.'

In the video, Perry shows up to play with the little red muppet, but he isn't exactly up for the fun. Perry then breaks out into a kid's version of 'Hot N Cold.'

Producers found the segment to be too hot for TV -- even though her bare chest is reportedly covered in flesh-colored mesh that goes all the way to her neck.

Her appearance on the long-running children's series was set to air as part of the show's 41st season.

Oh for God sakes people, I thought this was adorable. Ice skaters show more flesh than she did and do you think kids will care. They'll be more interested to jumping and dancing to the song with their little red idol. I'm sure they won't be scarred for life.

I am actually a left leaning liberal, and I still feel that this cute video would be inappropriate for Sesame street. Two reasons:

Sesame Street is a TV-Y rated show, specifically intended for young viewers. Other shows that share this rating are Go Diego Go and Curious George. Cleavage is not expected in this type of show. By the way, for those who equate dancing with the stars to Sesame Street, DWTS is a TV-PG rated show. Entirely different. Look it up if you do not understand. These ratings help parents decide if the show is appropriate for their children.

Reason 2. Girls have enough issues with body image given the current media coverage of sexuality. Let's not have that issue presented on a kids show. It would be nice to know that watching Sesame Street my children are not forming stereotypes about provocative dress for women. I will happily explain and guide them when they encounter this subject matter, but I would not expect it on Sesame Street.

I'm no prude, but Perry ALWAYS has her ta-tas hanging out. It's her trademark since she has no talent. TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE for a kiddie show. Why they would ever book a woman who sings about kissing girls (not that there's anything wrong with it) is beyond me.

Actually there is something wrong with that video. Elmo's in it. No offense to anyone, but I just really despise Elmo.

A lot of people have asked why would anyone put controversial material in a kids show. I would make the (obvious) observation that it could very well be to create buzz both for the kids show and for Katy Perry. Any coverage is good coverage, right?

Let's review, Cleavage on Sesame Street, released on Youtube, not released on tv, but picked up by every major news organization... You decide. Sounds like a 'safe' way to advertise to a whole new audience to me. Sesame street is edgy because it filmed Katy Perry, but still safe, because it did not release it on tv. Katy Perry is 'kid friendly' because she worked with Sesame street, but still looking like Katy Perry. In my mind, a clever ploy.

I can understand being a parent that her dress is a little questionable, but i don't believe that 5 year old kids are really looking for cleavage. She obviously had good intentions, and the song with Elmo is cute. Maybe they could cover her up a bit with the help of technology or re shoot it if it's so offensive to some. If the kids know who Katey is before this segment, than they have probably already seen her in more questionable things and maybe they just like her danceable music. Period.

People need to get a life! There is nothing wrong with this, unless you don't want your children to laugh, giggle, jump around the house and have fun. Maybe the viewers that don't approve shouldn't let their children watch TV.

I couldn't have said it better myself! I think it's both a really cute segment and it teaches a good message about being nice to others. It's really not that revealing--she knew she was on a childrens' show. She's not stupid.

So we're afraid that kids who were breastfeeding a maximum of 5 years ago are going to see...BREASTS?!?! OH NO! Really, why are Americans so afraid of the naked body? It's not like she was being sexual, the video is adorable!!

Why does she have to expose anything? Why can't this MEGA STAR dress appropriately? She is very sinful both on and off the set. I am pleased that her segment was pulled.

Yes - the content of the segment itself was very cute...but the POINT is:
WHY did they tape that segment with a costume that was clearly TOTALLY OUT OF PLACE!?
Obviously, the producers knew it as it was being shot, and could have stopped it right then.
