After 'Sesame Street' Pulls Her Video, Elmo Promises Katy Perry They'll Have Another Play Date

Katy Perry shouldn't worry -- she'll have another chance to play with Elmo soon.

The red-haired superstar revealed as much during an interview on 'Good Morning America,' while discussing the controversy surrounding the pop star's busty spoof of 'Hot N Cold' on 'Sesame Street.' Based on an avalanche of feedback from parents, PBS decided to pull the video from the show's premiere next week.

"Elmo loves Miss Katy and we had a good time, so we'll have another play date," he told George Stephanopoulos.

'Sesame Street' executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente was also on 'GMA' to give some more clarification around the decision to edit out Perry.

"We would never produce anything that we thought was inappropriate," said Parente. "We were surprised at the amount of feedback -- it was a lot -- we viewed a lot if the feedback and made what we felt was an appropriate decision."

PopEater readers were also torn. In our poll, over 11,000 people were nearly split, with 49 percent feeling it should have been pulled and 51 percent believing 'Sesame Street' should have left it.

Parente said that feedback was split, but in the end the concern of some parents was too much to ignore. "Parents opinions are very important to us. They trust 'Sesame Street.' We take that seriously." Watch Parente, Elmo and Grover on 'GMA' Below

Parente feels that Perry is "a wonderful musical talent" who fit in with the 'Sesame' tradition of securing pop stars to help widen the show's appeal and demographic. "We book celebrity stars to go after those younger parents who may not have grown up with 'Sesame Street' and may not seek 'Sesame Street' out."

It's not the first time 'Sesame' has cut a segment. They pulled Chris Brown's appearance after his domestic violence blowup with Rihanna. And Parente says that years ago, a Maurice Sendak segment was pulled because parents complained it was too intense.

More stars plan to hit the 'Street' this season, according to Elmo. "Jude Law and Colin Ferrell and Jason Bateman. Elmo loves to namedrop."

I think she looked cute, there was nothing wrong with what she wore. I dont listen to her type of music but I was totally laughing at the video. Kate Perry is awesome, the show was was a great show I would let my 4 year old daughter watch without fear.

Seriously, she should have dressed a little better than she did. I was split until I actually watched the skit. I mean she is running and her boobies are about to fall out. Yes, the whole time she is running, I was looking at her boobies waiting for one to pop out...lol

Katy, if you're going to do a skit for kids, please dress appropriately. They don't need to see your cleavage!

The fabric of her dress goes all the way up to her neck. Her breasts are just rather large, most of her cleavage IS actually covered by the yellow. There's no way she could 'pop out' in that dress.

With all the violence and sex on TV at any time how can anyone call Katy Perry's cute video crude. I loved it. Elmo is a very lucky Elmo.

Yes, it was definitely better than a beheading, but is that really the point? Does anyone remember the word 'innocence'? I was allowed to have it for a few years in my childhood, can't todays children have it for awhile? At least on the shows that are supposed to be for children.
