'Idol' Singer Crystal Bowersox to Tie the Knot

Last season of 'American Idol' is a hazy memory, what with shakeups on the judging panel hogging headlines all summer.

But Crystal Bowersox, the Ohio single mom whose soulful sound brought her this close to victory (over champ Lee DeWyze) in the season finale, is celebrating very happy news these days. E! reports that the singer, 25, is engaged to marry musician Brian Walker.

It's been quite a lively few months for Bowersox: In May, shortly before one of her final live performances, she broke up with her boyfriend, Tony Kusian, behind the scenes. She then came in second on 'Idol,' hit the road with the cast for the 'Idols Live' tour (which canceled numerous shows and ended early, reportedly due to disappointing ticket sales), got her teeth fixed in July, and entered the studio to begin recording her debut album.

This will be the first marriage for Bowersox, who has a son (almost 2 years old) from a previous relationship.

The engagement has just become public, but this fledgling romance is moving fast! According to PEOPLE, the couple are planning to get hitched in October. No doubt the bride will be able to book some top-notch voices to contribute to the wedding music.

I am happy for her as long as he is a decent guy and she doesn't change her style for him or anyone else. I hadn't heard that Idol tour was cancelled, but I am not surprised. I don't think it was a reflection on the singers, but rather annoyance with the whole Idol machine.
