David Beckham Sues Tabloid Over Hooker Allegations
His rep
warned earlier this week that soccer superstar and father of three
David Beckham would fight lurid reports that he was guilty of trysts with prostitutes.
Sure enough, the 35-year-old Brit has followed through, going forward with a major lawsuit against In Touch Weekly magazine.
The suit, filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges libel, slander and intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to RadarOnline.
Irma Nici, 26, is also a defendant named in the documents; she's the former call girl quoted in In Touch saying she had slept with
Victoria Beckham's husband on multiple occasions -- including unprotected sex and a threesome -- back in 2007.
David and former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham have been married for 11 years and have three sons, ages 11, 8, and 5.
Taking swift action upon publication of the scandalous report, the athlete certainly doesn't seem willing to become the next Tiger Woods. And with their children old enough now to read distressing headlines about their famous parents, the couple may be taking a page from the Brangelina playbook: In February, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (parents of six) filed suit against the U.K.'s 'News of the World' for falsely reporting that the couple were meeting with lawyers to break up and plan custody arrangements. The parties settled for "undisclosed damages" in July.
