The much-hyped musical 'American Idiot' has had good but not great box-office results since April, but that should all change once the face of Green Day steps on stage. According to the New York Times, rocker Billie Joe Armstrong is stepping into the lead role of St. Jimmy for eight shows starting from Tuesday to Sunday this week at the St. James Theatre in New York City.'American Idiot' is a rock opera promoted by Green Day using mostly songs from the band's 2004 album. The lead role is usually played by Tony Vincent, but because of a family matter, he's out for two weeks, so Armstrong is swooping in to cover for him before taking off for a South American tour.
