'Titanic' Star Gloria Stuart Dies at Age 100

Oscar-nominated actress Gloria Stuart passed away at the age of 100 on Sept. 26,
The Washington Post reports.
Stuart, best known to audiences as the elder Rose in the Best Picture-winning 'Titanic,' was diagnosed with lung cancer several years ago, according to her daughter, Sylvia Thompson.
The actress began her career in the 1930s, starring in such films as 'The Invisible Man,' 'Roman Scandals' and 'The Prisoner of Shark Island.'
'Titanic' earned Gloria her first and only Oscar nomination. She lost the Best Supporting Actress prize to 'L.A. Confidential' star Kim Basinger at the 1998 ceremony.
Stuart was 87 when the Academy nominated her for her work as a 100-year-old survivor of the sinking ship in the James Cameron film, and she remains the oldest Oscar nominee in history.
Born in Santa Monica, California, Gloria attended the University of California at Berkeley and was married twice. Her first marriage, to Blair Gordon Neill, lasted from 1930 to 1934.
Later in 1934, she married Arthur Sheekman and the two had one daughter. The pair remained together until his death in 1978.

Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends.. Just love it
Apparently, you don't know that 10 decades is 100 years. Gloria Swanson didn't start acting at birth. Still, almost 80 years of work is an amazing achievement! But let's get our facts straight.
Um, MoodyBlueEyes164 you might want to take your own advice and get your facts straight. You have her NAME wrong! It's Stuart, not Swanson.
SAD STORY,BUT SHE SEEMED TO HAVE LIVED A LONG AND GOOD LIFE,CANCER DOSENT DISCRIMINATE,R.I.P.

Unless I missed it, I didn't see Dorothy Provine listed as one of the deceased this year. I beleive she died around the middle of January. She started in many movies, among them, It's a Mad Mad Mad World.

This makes me so sad. I really enjoyed her in Titanic. She had a long life but it's sad when they go. RIP, Gloria. Your memory will go on.
I for one suspect foul play. I think there's a serial killer targeting people over 100 years old. They just die with no evidence of foul play? Yeah, right!

OMG! Thank you for the ROFLMAO! It was much needed around all this doom and gloom. RIP Gloria
Wow, you're a retard. How old are you? 13? 14?
The official Obama "Death Panel" decided that she was too old and too white so she had to go!
@amishfarmer, lol
Robbie: I echo Will's sentiments, however, he guessed that you were 13 or 14 years old; that may be your IQ.
You obviously don't respect your elders; wait till you reach 100 - NOT! With that kind of disrespect you may not make it to 50.
Actors work hard and put in long hours. To be working on 'Titanic' at 87 is a marvelous feat.
prove it, clown! (foul play)
Sorry about Gloria...as a kid in the 30's, she was my favorite
movie star. In those days, we could buy pink bubble gum in flat
pieces, in a lil package on the back of a flat card. We collected as many as we could of our favorites. She was mine and
I had about 30 of cards with her picture on the back...What fun!
She was such a wonderful actress!

Nice to hear about her from someone who remembers her a little younger. I had those bubble gum cards - still have them - but mine were the Beatles.
Her wagon was full, so much of life she's seen, was there during the "golden years" of Hollywood, watched the industry change and change again. Now she's at rest.......RIP Gloria.
