Jenny McCarthy Reveals Details About Jim Carrey Break Up

Hollywood was shocked earlier this year when funnyman Jim Carrey and funny lady Jenny McCarthy announced they were breaking up--and for the first time since the split, McCarthy is sharing some insight into what happened.

The Playboy model-turned-actress-turned-author discusses the relationship on an episode of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' that airs Tuesday, PEOPLE reports.

McCarthy visits Oprah's couch to discuss her latest book, 'Love, Lust and Faking It,' and while there, is asked what happened with Carrey. "Tell me, when did you know it was over?" Winfrey asks.

McCarthy candidly answers, "You know, the simple word I can give – and there's a few, so let me say a few. The first thing is, when it's not fun anymore, you need to start investigating and do an inquiry into the relationship."

Winfrey asks if reconciliation is possible. "Okay, I'm gonna ask this ... Just because I have to ... Any chance you'll get back together, do you think?"

"God, another good question," replies McCarthy.

"That's sort of a simple one," Winfrey says. McCarthy responds, "I know. I didn't even think about that one, though."

McCarthy also reveals that even though they announced the breakup in April, the couple had split weeks before. "When celebrities break up, usually when people find out about it, it happened way earlier. No matter what, your heart still needs to mend. ...So I feel like we really had some time to... heal a little bit."

During the interview, McCarthy insists to the talk show host that she didn't lose her own identity while dating Carrey. "My identification wasn't caught up [in] being a celebrity's ... girlfriend," she said.

When pressed by Oprah whether she is sure, she continues, "Absolutely. I did check on that, by the way. I checked into myself. How does my ego feel? ... My ego's fine. I'm a warrior mom. I always got back on my feet, and I know especially this year who I am."

The interview was right on point ! Having Jenny McCarthy as your girlfriend is a relationship of no substance. After the bed gets made there is nothing left.

Don't blame this all on HIM ... she is living in some sort of fantasy life. she claims she cured her autistic son and was spouting a lot of nonsense throughout the 5 years. They both have problems not playing with a full deck and I wish them both a lot of luck in the future. Maybe one day each of them will find someone who can put up with them for a long period of time.

THEY WERE PERFECT TOGETHER. I THOUGHT THEY REALLY LOVED ONE ANOTHER. AND I KNOW JENNYS SON WAS VERY CLOSE TO JIM. JIM WAS THE FATHER FIGURE FOR THE BOY. MAYBE, THEY'LL GET BACK TOGETHER, IT WOULD BE NICE.

Anytime an interviewee says "Oh, good question" you know they're full of it. She rebounded from a second rate career and husband and Jim is like a lost puppy dog. He kept her in the limelight. But somethings wrong with my man. I hope he finds peace and happiness.

Let's face it - Jim is funny in a silly kind of way, that kind of goofy humor would get a little old if you had to hear it everytime he opened his mouth (for 5 long years, no less).

Ask Rene Zellwegger why her and Jim didn't work out - and you'll probably hear a little redundancy in their answers. Immaturity and zaniness is fun when it's new - but it gets old fast. Sorry Jim, truth is hurtful sometimes - but the good news for Jim is - there's lots of pretty ladies who haven't heard all of his dumb jokes yet...
