President Obama's Latest Music Fix: Nas and Lil Wayne

No matter how you feel about President Barack Obama, it's still surprising to learn the leader of the free world listens to Nas and Lil Wayne.

President Obama is updating his iPod playlist these days and getting a little more gangster with his music, he admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone.

"Thanks to Reggie [Love, the president's personal aide], my rap palate has greatly improved," President Obama says. "Jay-Z used to be what sort of predominated, but now I've got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert."

President Obama also reveals that his daughters have kept him in the loop on today's new music: "Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things," the President says. "Music is still a great source of joy and occasional solace in the midst of what can be some difficult days."

But the President points out he hasn't abandoned classic rock, sharing that he stills feels connected to the music of his youth. "I am probably still more heavily weighted toward the music of my childhood than I am the new stuff. There's still a lot of Stevie Wonder, a lot of Bob Dylan, a lot of Rolling Stones, a lot of R&B, a lot of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Those are the old standards," he says.

Lil Wayne is in prison. Something they sing about often. Now, our president listens to this garbage. What a shame. It really concerns me. I just wonder how many of these nut cases he is going to pardon when he leaves the white house. It is really scary to think about....

OK im a white guy!iv heard all the white guy jokes about how were not cool like the blacks are but think about this for a minute, My kids listen to this hip hop but i try to point out that some of the lyrics are just plain nasty,and to please think about what you are groovin to,also im not shure about a man the presidents age[same as me] is doing trying to live in his childrens world!Most of all the rap is all about look at me,look at my money,look at my car,and look at my women, not much depth in a country that is so loving and giving to so many people aroud the world!

Hi Michael,

It's nice to be loving and giving around the world as long as you are loving and giving to those in your own country first. I have a sister on disability social security. They barely give her enough to survive on for the rest of the month after she pays her rent and bills. I say let's start being a little more charitable to those who really need it in this country. The elderly, the disabled, poor families born in this country, and the veterans of course.
